Yes, the first fighter jet in Sweden, SAAB J 29 "Flygande Tunnan" (the flying barrel). Actually in 1954 it took the speed record with 977 km/h on a 500 km long route. This was beaten the year after by a F-86H Sabre.

The first day of fall, 1955 ... just a little later that year - December 2, 1955 - I was born! Yay! There is something I love about European layouts ... an Old World feel ... in the buildings, the countryside, maybe it's the people ... there's just something I love about them!

Thanks for info! :) Last time, when i was in Stockholm, i didn't known about SMJ and that's why i miss it.. Now i do and don't miss it again in next trip, and this time i will take daughter with me.. ;) Only i need to make decision when and how, because flying is faster, but with Tallink is more fun.. :D

The Dm3 is a Dm2 .. (3:40) For the rest a nice impression. I was able to visit the club in dec.2017 and was very very impressed by what the members have achieved. A sincere THANK YOU from the Netherlands!

tramways1435 It’s was actually named Dm+Dm during it’s time at SJ. It was renamed Dm2 when Kiruna malmtrafik AB took over the oretrains at Malmbanan. Dm3 was the middle part which was built and permanently attached between the two halves of Dm to increase the traction power of the loco. But Dm3 became the popular name for the three part unit. And that loco was renamed to the popular name by Kiruna malmtrafik.

If I remember correctly there was no Dm2. Their designation was DM only. And it's definately not a Dm3.

Stefan your totally correct there was no DM2 just DM3 and DM plus and it was a DM since the DM3 is just slightly to young to operate on the layout- from a SMJ member

Bonjour Martin, Thanks for sharing this - indeed - a 'most inspiring' layout tour of SMJ ! What stroke me is the harmony and blending in of nature and industry. This is typical of the respect for the environment in Northern European countries and a wonderful Swedish example! I live in a so called preserved & protected 'Natural Parc De Brenne' in the Centre of France but nature is violated just like elsewhere. Soon we will have + 100 m high wind turbines in our back garden. If your climate wasn't that cold I'd move to your fine country !! Also I like the time period 1955 of this fine layout and the respective rolling stock. Could you, please, guide me where I can buy these models online in Sweden? I very much like the 'yellow Rail Bus' and this one would be a good addition to my railway ( also situated in 1955 Springtime)The AnneliesVille RR. Thanks and thumps up !! Cheers Filip

The computer controlled track or SJ banan has catenary masts or poles but the rest of the layout was made for steam and diesel locomotives- club member

@@EBr-yy6os Thank you for your response. My question is in relation to the sector with catenary where I can see the mast and poles but not the wires between them. Thans again!!

So when they converted to DCC, did they retrofit each lok with a chip?
@EBr-yy6os
@EBr-yy6os 3 ай бұрын
Most of the locomotives are privately owned by the club members so they would each get the option of retrofitting the locomotives with DCC and they would have to pay for it themselves.
