Mark Morris and his dance group, always inspiring, 25 years ago since I learned about him and continues to be incredibly inspiring now.

Mark, if you are reading this, hello and God Bless. My name is Janice Bourdage. Many, many moons ago, I was living in Seattle and took a workshop with you at the Washington Arts Center in the 80s. I was blown away by your sense of rhythm, your humanity, and your wicked sense of humor. At the end of the workshop, there was an evening performance in which you danced with the students, among them, Penny Hutchinson, who, I believe, was in your original company, and Rachel Brumer, who still lives in Seattle. I'll never, ever forget being "on stage" with you during the performance. It was electric, and I had the time of my life. I went on to apprentice Bill Evans Dance Co, and then, onto NYC to apprentice the Limon Co. and dance with David Gordon and Valda Setterfield. My experience with you on stage has stuck with me. Though I am fast approaching 70, I am planning a one woman show and find myself watching your choreography for the sheer inspiration of it all. It's amazing how a point in time can color your whole life. The short time on stage with you has lived on in my heart. The sense of rhythm, first instilled in me by Harriet Ann Gray (member of the Humphrey Weidman Co., where she danced with Jose Limon), and then reinforced by my studies with you, has informed my work thereafter. You are truly a gift to this world. I hope you are happy and thriving. Please say "hi" to Penny if you are still in touch. She will likely not remember me, but, let her know I was touched and inspired by her, as well.

I miss his voice, somehow I thought his voice would not change. However, his dance, his theories and thoughts about dance are always interesting!

Sorry to spoil the party but this is rhythmic but unmusical jiggling and camp posturing. Jiggling to any note has nothing to do with rhythm, tension, volume, emotion. A scale is a collection of note, a scale used well in a musical composition is a universe. Jiggling to notes is just a collection of body jerks.
