For how dictators feel, if they're somewhat sane, probably like in the tale, where the sword of damocles is mentioned, hanging over the dictators head ready to decapacitate them. PS: Also regarding, if they come together in our lifetime (I'm nearly as old as Tommy), hard to tell. I remember historic interviews with West-Berliners in 1986, where they were asked that question, if they believe that the Berlin Wall will fall during their lifetime. Most of them said "No, it will still stand, when I die". We all know, how that ended. Also an intro of Leipzig with North Korean strange music would be funny xD

If Kim Jong Man became the leader of north Korea it would be way more progressive, he was a surprisingly cool dude, he disagreed with his father and wanted to reform the country and help the people, or that's at least something i read. I wonder how the country would be if he became the leader
@MagiconIce3 жыл бұрын
Probably without the Kim Dynasty at it's head, because any reforms touching the might of the military would be opposed by the Army, especially the higher ups and reforming North Korea would most surely mean Detente with the West (e.g. signing finally a peace deal with South Korea) and reducing the size of the Military and Military spending, maybe even touching their "Army gets rations first" policy, meaning no more luxury food for top generals. I believe, if a member of the Kim Dynasty becomes North Korea's Head of State and doesn't ally himself with the Army, especially loyal generals in the army, he won't stay Head of State for long.

Well, more stuck somewhere in between the 40's and the modern age, North Korea, If I know correctly, still operates soviet imported T-34's. T-34's! And aircraft-wise they only got like a hand full of modern, 21st century jets, which are poorly maintained, the majority of their airforce is outdated. If North Korea would get themselves in an air engagement with South Korea alone, I think South Korea alone, without any outside help, would mop the floor with the North Korean jets, because the sheer difference in quality in equipment and training, because, if you have only sparse fuel and a very little supply of spare parts, you can't do regular training flights and the most modern jet is a useless piece of metal, if the pilot can hardly operate it.

Personality cult dictatorships are incompatible with the Marxist-Leninist ideology. Tommy is just talking out of his ass there probably because he played too much hoi4. Wasn't there a political party in Taiwan with the word "Communist" in the name, a party that proceeded to confess that they chose the name just because it was popular? Putting aside if you agree with the ideology or not, the ideology in question doesn't allow a single person to be an absolute dictator, if it does then it's simply not the same ideology anymore. This is an especially stupid statement when someone looks at South America or Africa or the Middle East, the infestation beds of fascist capitalist dictatorships where non-communist dictatorships pop up in numbers much more numerous than the total number of "communist" dictatorships in history has ever been.
@eysn4 жыл бұрын
I know what's in the communist manifesto. The dictatorship of the proletariat is said as opposed to the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie today, it talks about the rise and fall of certain economic/social classes and not a single person. If you read what I've said more carefully this time, I only mentioned personality cult dictatorships. I'm talking about the absolute dictatorship of a single person, which is not compatible with Marxist-Leninist ideology. For the last part of your comment, Cuba is a good example of a communist state that's alive today without being in the clutches of a dictatorship. It's a state which has been sabotaged by the USA at every turn and even after all of that they're still living their ideology as good as they can with what resources they have and without falling into corruption. It's living, breathing evidence against your statement.
@eysn4 жыл бұрын
I'm not a communist and I don't need to be one to acknowledge what's true and what's not.
@slr44564 жыл бұрын
@@eysn I´ll have to disagree with you. Tommy isn´t "talking his ass off", he´s not that kind of person. He sadly is a victim like many people in the world (particularly the First World) who have fallen for the US´ propaganda circus apparatus. As Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels said "If you tell a lie long enough, it´ll be eventually taken as truth". The US has been telling all these ridiculous lies about North Korea for almost 30 years non-stop, hammering it to death into the news, into pop-culture, even into religion, they´re now being taken as unquestionable facts. It´s almost impossible to find objective info on this country just by how overflooded we are with propaganda. All of the sudden critics of the mainstream media lying turn the other side if its something about the North. Now magically everything they say is 100% right and fact. This is why is acceptable and normal for people like Saberspark, Drew Binsky and Kento Bento to spouse racist and xenophobic rhetoric against Korean people & culture, even calling for "the liberation of the North", and by that they mean to destabilize, invade, bomb, rape and slaughter them. Is similar to the White Savior myth of the European colonialism, treating Koreans as if "they´re savages" or "too brainwash to be normal human beings", or "living in the wrong civilization". You have no idea how sad it is to see reasonable people like Tommy and even Barbs throw away all that reasonability into the dustbin when it comes to North Korea. Barbs clearly had good intentions of not demonizing the country, but finding the "trustworthy" sources means you´ll come into the mainstream media, which has that bias because its been mission 1 for the American regime since the fall of the Soviet Union. And it doesn´t help when the lies keep backfiring again and again. How many times will the media tell us someone from the government was executed, just for them to magically respawn later? How many times will the defectors change their story of escape and keep acting like they´re reliable sources? How many times we´ll be told that Kim Jong Un died, only for him to still resurrect? Me, I just had enough, and after watching eyeopening documentaries like "Spy Nation" and "Loyal Citizens of Pyongyang in Seoul" (both are South Korean documentaries exposing the torture cartels for North defectors where they´re force to tell the outrageous lies we all know), I realized: North Korea is just a country. There´s bad stuff and good stuff happening. The "Juche year" is just a mere formality just like the title of "Eternal Leader" for Kim Il-Sung, not an actual law or a power wheeling title. They´re very confucian in their culture and as a result, their a big "respect for the leader" actitude. And the country has its own timezone as a symbolic protest against Japan not apologizing for their crimes in the Peninsula.
@eysn4 жыл бұрын
@@slr4456 I think you're not disagreeing with anything I've said besides the part where Tommy talks out of his ass, which I still think he does. He's a victim of western propaganda, true. That's also the reason why he's talking out of his ass since his ass is as credible as western propaganda. If he's talking about things he doesn't know anything about other then a general prejudice disseminated through his community, then he's clearly talking out of his ass. But I agree with your general idea after that. Even then, it's also true that North Korea is a strict dictatorship passed through a single family and we don't need to know the details of the country to know this simple fact. We deposed dynastic monarchies all around the world for a reason. It's true that we don't have credible sources about most of the inner workings of North Korea, which is a given. But I still don't agree with how the country is run from what we do know about it. It's apparent to me that the family in charge of North Korea is working for personal gain, regardless of which ideology they're posing as. I agree with you wholeheartedly about hostile western propaganda and false imaging.
