Yeah, that's typical China for you - if you're a foreigner even more so than if you were a native. The thing with chinese universities is that they depend heavily on government subsidaries. They are expected to have a certain (unrealistically high) number of successful graduates. That is why it is not uncommon for you to meet drinking/drunk students in class, or almost empty clasrooms in general. In many degrees they just don't need to give a shit really. On the other hand, for natives it would have been a problem if that chinese politics 101 thing is failed, cuz it is mandatory for ANY student - good indoctrination. Its a fun experience as long as you don't have to worry about if these modules you study there are even recognized by western univiersities. Because that might just not be the case.

The taxi experience is similar with what I've experienced in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. They would see me, an obvious foreigner (they thought I was Australian), and try to screw me over every morning. Good thing I found the Grab app - recommend it to everyone (basically Uber).

As a university student in China, I lived in a 25 square meters room with 5 roommates. A large number of Chinese argued that the government treated foreign students too well last year because some random sexual harassment incident. The increasing hostility towards American and other westerns makes me worry.

so tru on the white race thing ive heard a lot of stories of white people going to africa or asia and they ask u if u need something so they can get ur money my story is similar to tommygay so im 14 and me and my family went to mexico for vacation we stayed at this resort but when we landed at mexico we were bombarded with taxi people asking if we need a ride they never told us the price but when we went from the city to our resort it caused us 110 dollars for it then my mexican freinds family who were on vacation with us nobody even asked them for a ride we had more intenses of people asking us what they can do for us and it seemed genuine but ask for fuckin way too much money in the end its not white privlage its just a race trap for them to get money
