Because I wanted Stagnant and Markov to have different emotional feels. Stagnant's first half represents depression, with harsh shifts in tones from happy to sad. The second half is meant to represent a more uncontrolled descent into madness. Markov picks up at the bottom of this metaphorical descent. Now we're fully immersed in the madness, so it's less chaotic and more directly intense. HOME continues this (despite me not composing it) by amping it up yet another notch.
