Greetings Aaron. I grew up in Ontario. What part are you in?
@aaronp14344 жыл бұрын
@@Nomadboatbuilding southwestern Ontario, I grew up sailing on and still race sail boats on Long Point Bay Lake Erie out of Port Dover. Even though I currently live close to Tillsonburg (of stompin Tom fame) I’ve been curious about the 2.4 mr ever since I saw 4 of them in a marina in Kincardin Ontario about 10 years ago. Unfortunately I don’t get to solo due to her enjoyment of the sport as well lol

Nice work Mark. Your trimmer is so much quieter than mine!

Not likely. I drop the volume for power tools.

Bow covered in epoxy and a number of planks to attach. Enter one cool cat. It would have kicked by the second plank for test of us. Excellent work, my guess the look on the new owners face this yacht should be named the Cheshire Cat.

You just did 2 outside compound curves WITH ... A inside compound curve BETWEEN them...!... BRAVO..! Whats next....? A BOSTON WHALER HULL. LOL COLD MOLD.

What’s next is going to be much simpler....except for the hard part which is going to be a hard hollow tuck in lapstrake planking.

Been waiting for it all day, finally arrived.lol sad old man.
@Nomadboatbuilding4 жыл бұрын
Sorry about that. Been waiting all day for it myself. My upload slowed down to 1980’s levels for some reason. Took 30 hours to stuff that through the wire.

What is the length of your pot time on the epoxy and is the wetting out coat have hardener in it or not?
@Nomadboatbuilding4 жыл бұрын
The pot life is about 30 minutes. I used West System 207 special coatings slow hardener for this glue up. Yes the wet out coat has hardener in it too. You cannot use un-catalyzed epoxy resin.

I still don’t understand why you don’t put a 2 oz layer of cloth on , makes no sense And yes I’ve raced boats for 40 years
@Nomadboatbuilding4 жыл бұрын
What can I say. Just not a huge fan of cloth.
@chrispomfret85924 жыл бұрын
Why add the weight though?
@johngregory48014 жыл бұрын
@@chrispomfret8592 Because it both aids in sealing the wood from excess moisture, adds abrasion resistance and also gives a bit of structural strength lengthwise and athwartships, whereas the 45/45 crossed wood veneers cover torsional strength and puncture resistance.
@chrispomfret85924 жыл бұрын
@@johngregory4801 yep I understand that and see your point but in a small racing boat the thwarts, ribs etc should do all the structural work while keeping the weight down. Sure if you want a long lasting boat glass it but a fast boat is the desire here isn’t it?
@johngregory48014 жыл бұрын
@@chrispomfret8592 I wouldn't built a 2.4 in wood unless I was planning on it lasting several years without needing a structural refit.
