Mark ----- Thank you for showing how You make gaskets. Another Tip for my book --- The Ink Pad a good way of transferring part image to gasket ( cereal box ) or the automotive gasket material. And a Second Tip of using a second piece of gasket , which ever one you use, behind the one you are punching holes through -- like using a Leather Punch tool with a rotary fixture with different size punches . Keeps holes clean and crisp Manolo - below , I say take it up again . A Good Hobby ----------- I'm 73 and starting again been some 58 yrs. Mark will do you right . Follow his every move and you'll be on your way to having some FUN!

Nice way of showing the simple way to do this. I would square and fit and trim installed.

as a mechanic, i have always used a gasket hamer, i still use one to make these gaskets for glow engines, although i use the same hole punch for the small holes.

A nice, detailed explanation. You Brits are so articulate. Honestly, I thought you might have a great trick to punch the big circle without doing it by hand. Not to be.

Rick F Hahahaha, thanks for the comment, it's appreciated. I did try cutting out the big center circle with a hole cutter, but so difficult to line it up correct. 😀

Mark Robinson I really like your videos, is so much fun. I used to build planes as well since very young. I guess should start again soon, it’s a great hobby, learned so much from that. Thanks again Mark!

Is that simple cardboard? Won't it be affected by glow mixture? Thank you!
@MarkRobinson5554 жыл бұрын
Simple cardboard is fine, but the denser the better. also, good to use propper gasket paper which is cheap enough from car repair shops

thanks a lots for this video Mark,this is very informative.But can you confirm if we need to soak the Gasket in some oil prior to fitting?
@MarkRobinson5552 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I would not soak in oil, but would just smear a little bit on the gasket to help it seat properly and also to hold it in place during assembly. Thanks for the kind comment it's appreciated.

Hi, I’ve been told by a tamiya shop that I can use kitchen grease proof paper to do the same as that’s basically what mine is
@MarkRobinson5553 жыл бұрын
Hi there, grease proof paper is quite thin, so if using on the backplate it could be a bit thin and cause the conrod to rub, just a thought. Thanks for the comment

@@MarkRobinson555 thanks for your help, I was thinking the same, maybe I will try it with a few layers glued together. I’m buying a new one for the car, might also try your method
