You got that one running really nicely Mark. I’ve an FS-20 myself, but I haven’t figured out what to put it on yet.

Would go well in a nice little vintage modle, perhaps!?

Good morning Mark. Another good review. I would have loved to have owned a four stroke but alas no. I must say I am looking forward to seeing your next secret build. Take care. Terry

Hi Terry, thanks very much for the kind comment and your continued support, its greatly appreciated. Hahahaha, I think there are a couple of things to be done before that, but this engine is for my J60, but don't tell anyone!

@@MarkRobinson555 I wondered if it would be a Junior 60. So so looking forward to seeing your build on that one. The one thing I did change on my one was to raise the wing mounting dowels. To give the front dowel a stronger fixing I added 1/16 ply doublers to the front inside of the cockpit upright down to the mid longeron. Shaped to the side profile. Nice one.
@MarkRobinson5552 жыл бұрын
Thought you would like that, I do have another vintage build that you may like, which I will be posting first! Great idea about moving the dowels, will look much better. I am also considering reducing the dihedral a little, be interesting to know your thoughts on that one
@terryblackman62172 жыл бұрын
@@MarkRobinson555 I very much agree with you. I reduced my models dihedral by I think by 1•5 inches either side. Although other's have got away with leaving it as stated on the plan. I built my J60 from the 1946 kit plan that had a narrower fuselage. Because my model is electric I did lengthen the nose by 1 inch. All I can say is it's a joy to build and so forgiving to fly.

Thanks Terry, good to hear your experience with the J60, particurally regarding the dihedral. The J60 plans I have are from Ben Buckle and I can't wait to build it, but there are a couple of other things I am currently working on and filming which I need to get sorted first, including a Tomboy Senior and a Ben Buckle Diamond Demon, I mention these as I know you like your vintage stuff!!

You sure that valve cover is plastic? I believe it's anodised aluminium I'll do a check on mine to see if you're right! Beautiful engines, o have the OS 20 and Asp 30 both run super smooth!!

Just checked and you are absolutely correct, thanks for letting me know. As you say great engines

Please use the secure bolts on this engine ! Especially when tuning it... Mine is happy with a 10x6 APC.
@MarkRobinson5552 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think 10x6 will certainly be the better size, thanks for the confirmation

Mark do you know what the nominal operating temps are for these engines? Is it similar for two strokes and four strokes?
@MarkRobinson5552 жыл бұрын
Sorry John, I don't know, but would be really interested to know if you find out.

If you are looking for the date of introduction of an OS Engine, you can show this official poster : www.os-engines.co.jp/english/timeline/O.S.1936_2020.pdf. FS30 was introduced in 1995.

Just been looking at the OS chart you sent me the link for, its very interesting, but it says the OS fs 30 was introduced in 2002 around the period I suggested in the video, not 1995
