I love that you do many multiple passes over the carpet. After watching other videos, I would request my carpet cleaner to take multiple “rinsing” passes”. I hate the cleaned carpet residue I’ve come across in some properties. Makes it feel just as dirty as original. You already take care of that. Thank you!
@MarkSaiger
@MarkSaiger Жыл бұрын
Thank you! There are sometimes you don't need multiple passes with our wand set ups. We have larger jets and pretty good suction to accompany the entire set up balance. Also with the window in the wand head we can keep an eye on soils being removed.... But we do a lot of double pass (or some areas more) passes and followed up with dry passes to remove not just moisture, but more suspended soils. Something I have grown up doing for years 😊👍

Thank you so much for being here with us! So glad you are enjoying the channel and content. I have a few videos where I have used both methods, but not much on comparing each other side by side. I have done testing and I feel I can clean very well with either method. There are times one is faster over the other and that is a reason for the decision between either. I'm not sure if you have caught my one video cleaning a pretty nasty carpet at a manufacturing plant with VLM only. I really was surprised at what I was able to do. I was on one of my road tours and they reached out to me to see if I wanted a challenge...Of course sometimes I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed...LOL. But I'm so happy they contacted me, because I learned that I can do A LOT with VLM cleaning. From a property manager's POV? That carpet was from the early 90s and the renters didn't bother to clean it once over many years. We'd call that property owner a "Slum Lord" because that carpet and padding needed to be ripped out and replaced. the carpet can come out looking nice and clean... But that padding underneath is going to be saturated with dirt that will wick right back out in a couple months making the carpet look nasty again. 🤢🤮 That's one of the problems with "Wall 2 Wall" back then the padding was recycled fabric and foam... You did an EXCELLENT job! Just that the owners should have replaced that. We need a rug spa to pull out W2W deep clean it like the area rugs and install it over new padding... 🤣

@MarkSaiger
@MarkSaiger Жыл бұрын
It depends on the soil level. Unfortunately, it's hard to beat a $50,000 to $150,000 cleaning unit and the tools. But I would maybe suggest if you wanted to try. If you purchase a self contained cleaning unit from say Walmart or similar (such as Hoover or Bissell) I would maybe suggest having you try something like our Saiger's Sauce 1. Easy to use and good punch. Mix it up as 2 ounces (a 2 ounce scoop is on our containers). Apply it with a pump up pressure sprayer (such as a one gallon garden sprayer with wand). Apply liberally, maybe even use a clean deck brush or clean shop broom to agitate as needed, or even that mop with some stream to activate) Rinse with the cleaning machine and only use the product in the machine they provide. It's a mild cleaning agent that won't harm the carpet cleaner pump. Our products are stronger and the pumps are not built for commercial cleaning agents. Extract at least a couple of times with wet cleaning passes, then dry pass extract. I would apply a fan to help speed dry. Spot removal stains are a different animal and I could help address those stains also if needed. Let me know if this is of any help and I wish you success. Also, if you let me know your location, I might be able to find a local cleaner I might know. www.saigers.com

Mark I love your fun happy attitude, it's really nice 😊 I have two questions, is the zipper ss spinner vlm, hwe or something different altogether? And when would you use a wand, vs rotovac, vs zipper on residential? How do you decide what's best
@MarkSaiger
@MarkSaiger Жыл бұрын
Thanks Jay! The Zippers are hot water extraction tools. They are really good at flushing things out, but have incredible recovery and drying capabilities. They are really made for cleaning large commercial areas, but we have been using them also on large residential (or trashed 😉) when we see they will be a time saver. They can be twice as fast as a wand in the right hands also and quite possibly 4 times or more faster than a rotary such as the Rotovac. The Rotovac type rotatories can get a different type of direct fiber agitation, but we rarely use our Rotovacs anymore. We have seen in some cases also permanent damage from a Rotovac extractor especially on commercial carpet with some people having to even replace carpets in buildings they used the unit on. We tend to use Conway Devastator swivel head wands, Zippers, CRB's and even the Trinity for VLM. The Trinity even though be low moisture and rotary style has the correct speed so as not to hurt or tip bloom carpet fiber. We keep experimenting also to see what else we can discover and always willing to share our experiences. 😊👍

Good Day and what a great question(s). I would suggest to keep watching cleaning videos yet but also, you might be able to set up sometime to meet a cleaning company and see first hand the process. To answer some of your questions here. First I want to say, ladies can clean carpet too. It can be a physical and sometimes difficult job, but our daughter (Aron's Wife) was one of our lead techs for a number of years. We had a glimpse of here cleaning in part 3 of our recent 3 part cleaning series videos at a bar restaurant. Also, we have some lady cleaners following us here on the channel too. Depending where you are located, I might have know of someone who you could meet and see the equipment and process. They might even invite you to do a ride a long . A vacuum will be needed, but you will also see there are quite a few cleaners in our industry who do not pre-vacuum. We do feel it is important in many instances though. What we use for the Steam Cleaning is also known as Hot Water Extraction is a Trucmounted cleaning machine. We use Butler Truckmounts which run off the van motors. Some Truckmounts have a separate motor and are called a slide in unit being independent from needing the van motor to operate. There are also portable carpet cleaning machines. They are smaller and would run off and electric outlet. All these machines, there are many different designs. I will say, some can be better than others and each cleaner makes a decision some time based on what they can afford or what a local dealer will sell and service. There is cleaning chemistry involved. All the products being used in our videos are our Saiger's Sauce Products we have developed over the years. There are others out there as well. Learning the chemistry can be beneficial as it can help your cleaning to be more successful. Hopefully, my channel does help to address some of these questions at times. I don't go to in depth in chemistry, but will touch on it at times. For transporting the equipment and getting to job sites, you will need transportation. Having your own vehicle for this would be best, but I do know of a carpet cleaner friend with sight problems in Australia, who has taxi's take him and his equipment from job to job. He's quite the character also. 😁👍. There are also other cleaning methods called Low Moisture Cleaning that you will see on my channel in the VLM Playlist. This is another option for some as their cleaning method. It takes less equipment and in many situations even a more preferred cleaning method. We incorporate all methods of cleaning ourselves. I hope this helped to touch a little bit of your questions. We sure are glad you are here with us, and look forward to helping you with your questions....and really glad you are here enjoying our videos. 😊❤

@MarkSaiger
@MarkSaiger Жыл бұрын
Welcome to the industry 😊👍. The flyers will help get your name around. If you can start by cleaning for family and friends and they start telling more friends, this can help get you some business. We don't pay for advertising on Facebook, but use Facebook as a positive marketing tool. Again, getting people to share posts or even comment on posts can help. It's not easy starting businesses new, but the rewards can be an awesome feeling when things start to click. We are in a smaller community, so we can be seen well. And keeping the vans and equipment clean and good looking also is huge we feel. Travel routes that people can see you. Networking in your community at community functions and having business cards ready to hand out when people ask what you do can be a help. I'm not sure where you live and size of your community but every place can vary on what might work. I would suggest not to base your advertising just around price as then it's more difficult to find those good clients who will truly value you and your work and what you are truly worth. Confidentiality price your work to be profitable, cover your expenses and also be able to grow and me able to update and replace equipment later on. I have a video I did on pricing a few years ago I will also find and link here to if can be of help

We don't usually have constant wick back problems on those stains if we just mist on something like our Harvard Chemical Just Like Magic. It's a 9.9 percent peroxide with a few other things in the formula to help. If it still keeps coming back there is some sort of cleaning residue sometimes that might need water claw Flushing, but I have hardly used a water claw in years for subsurface extraction. @MarkSaiger
@MarkSaiger Жыл бұрын
Wool being a natural fiber can absorb permanent stains. It really takes a specialty rug shop to try and have it removed and they can still be permanent. Red is even more difficult to remove if a number of attempts to remove the red have taken place. So then it also comes down to how much is the rug truly worth to have a high end rug shop attempt to fix it 😊

@MarkSaiger
@MarkSaiger 6 ай бұрын
Thank you and welcome to the channel 😊. We prefer the Zipper Wand overall for what we use it for. The rotary wand you are talking about would have done a good job on this job also. It does have some weaknesses unfortunately in durability I have come across such as hitting a transition strip or heat register grate accidentally, the gears will usually break. But it can clean well. Also, a person needs to be careful not to leave permanent swirls in the carpet. So grooming after us important we feel and also being careful not to use it on certain carpets it could leave those permanent swirls. Where are you located if I might ask? And thanks again for being here and your comments 😊

@@redcrimson1028 we are in Northern Minnesota. Grand Rapids, MN. The Ninja has a really good history of being good. I'm not sure how it is these days. @MarkSaiger is it okay to just spray a spot treatment pre treat all over then just use water in the machine to do my house or do I need to use a carpet shampoo and spray it all over instead? Do you know if a shampoo is different then a pretreatment carpet spray spot remover?
@MarkSaiger
@MarkSaiger 11 ай бұрын
@@josieshepherd2483a spotter is possibly going to be a different formula than a prespray. A shampoo can sometimes be some similar formula as a prespray cleaner. A lot of store bought units or even rental units they make their product to go through the machine. It's usually a mild Alkaline cleaner. I have not experimented with it as a prespray but you might be able to use it as a prespray applied with a pump up garden Sprayer then rinse with water or even the formula also in the machine. You could get a prespray such as our Saiger's Sauce 1 or 10 Below and prespray then rinse with the formula they have for their machines. That could give you good results. A shampoo is sometimes the same as a rinse or prespray when they call it a shampoo for their machines. I've been planning to look into doing a video buying a homeowners machine and showing how to clean with it. That could happen yet this Fall or winter.

Can I put vinegar in my clean water tank for rinsing carpet in my portable carpet cleaning machine
@MarkSaiger
@MarkSaiger 5 күн бұрын
This is a great question. I would honestly not do that. Vinegar is very acidic, and if course quite smelly. You would be better off to purchase a gallon of actual carpet cleaning rinse over vinegar. But another thing to keep in mind is the store bought carpet cleaning machines rinse is specially built for those units. A lot of store bought units don't have the proper seals in motors and such to handle more than the rinse they make for those units. Other cleaners run through the units can destroy the pumps. Thank you for this question. Hopefully it can also help others 😊
