That closeup of the Crane’s eye is simply incredible!

Hey Mark. Quite a lot of fun, as always. I love that one can look through the crane's nostrils and see the sky on the other side. Sorta like looking through my ears!

Other bird species are like that. If you look at a turkey vulture from the side, you can see out of the other nostril.

Mark, what tripod / monopod do you use on your trips? Were you using a gimbal for video?
@MarkSmithphotography7 жыл бұрын
I use a manfrotto heavy duty lens support for when I use a tripod and a manfrotto carbon fiber tripod. I shoot handheld 98% of the time. Any slow motion video was shot handheld. The walking shots are with a cell phone on a gimbal. Anything that has a wide angle look to it was shot on the phone. The intro with the Heron was the only shot on the tripod.

I love the pictures and the descriptions of the wildlife. The otters were awesome and the birds were fantastic - particularly the Herrings. The detail provided at 500mm is amazing with good light (the long walk was worth it) and that d850. You also must be a "bird whisperer" as no bird would ever let me get a close as you can. Thanks for the video!

The first mystery bird is a winter plumage American Goldfinch and the Pine Warbler right after it is actually an Orange-crowned Warbler! The flycatcher looks like a Great-crested Flycatcher based on how yellow the belly is. I love the Sandhill Crane photos!
@MarkSmithphotography7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! You are the second person to ID that as a Goldfinch. I think you are both right. For the Golden Puff ball, is that the Orange-Crowned Warbler? Thanks for the info!
