Useful video.I guess you cant control individual rooms without the special valves which are expensive, on each radiator. Is that correct?
@MarksTechVlogs10 ай бұрын
Yeah that's right. I actually have 2 of the special valves in rooms I want more control over...so my home office has one that stops it heating up in the evenings when I (generally) don't work and one in the bedroom which keeps it cooler than the rest of the house. I have seen the triple pack of valves gets as low as £130 before so worth keeping an eye out for offers geni.us/gmvhfYd

hi, thanks for the great video. We have been comparing the Drayton Wiser, Tado, Hive and Nest, your vlog has really helped us understand why the tado is good.

I had a Zigbee roomstat that gave a nice simple replacement for a standard Drayton roomstat and has a nice display and Alexa integration but like most Zigbee home automation it went belly-up. So I fitted Tado v3+ which gave control of both heating and hot water. Fitting the roomstat and hooking up the hub took 5 minutes The main problem was removing and replacing the Drayton timer at the. boiler. The house was built around year 2,000 and builders had used a cowboy sub-contractor for plumbing and electrical installation and the wiring for the programer time switch was a total mess even the patress box wasn't fitted properly. I spent about 3 hours just figuring it all out marking up the wiring diagram with coloured pen then a couple of hours actually sorting it out using Wago ❤ connectors. It all worked perfectly first time. It really would have taken less than two hours if the original system had been fitted using a proper junction box. I don't like that the Tado system unlike ZigBee is dependent on the internet. I also don't like that there isn't a continuous display of room temperature and heat call status on the roomstat, however I bought a Tp-Link Tapo temperature and humidity sensor with display as I already have a TP-Link Tapo hub and other other Tp-Link gear. Signal from the hub is strong although my house is brick and breeze block construction , but I think the hub would still work okay if connected to the router by Power Line Networking

great video just had it installed. Does the thermostat control the whole house? What does it do. thanks

Yes it does, if you also have any of the Tado radiator thermostats then they can turn your boiler on too

Great video. V helpful. Do you know how it works with nest....? Does heating need to be turned on by nest centrally for the tado thermostatic valve to be of any use in controlling room temperature? Or will it communicate with nest to turn heating on..?
@MarksTechVlogs Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the nest will need to be on for the Tado valve to make a difference, if you use a Tado smart thermostat instead of a nest then the valves can turn the heating on

Great Video. I have an Ideal Vogue Max combi boiler which is about 2 years old and is run via Halo thermostat set up. Would I be able to install just the Tado Smart thermostat valves and Internet bridge to some of my radiators without the need of installing the Tado hub? I have read that as long as my boiler is compatible with Opentherm and 240v, my Ideal boiler will work? Can you please advise? Thanks so much, Ian

Hi Ian, I'm afraid I don't know enough about opentherm to know if the Tado valves will be able to trigger your Halo. I'd probably recommend contacting Taco's support to find out. Sorry to not be more helpful

Hi Mark, thanks for your review! I've just moved into a home which has a hive system. However, I will need a new Hive Hub if I want to use the app. Would you be in favour of replacing your heating system with a Tado instead of having to buy a new Hive hub?
@MarksTechVlogs Жыл бұрын
Hey, having used both I’d certainly favour Tado over hive, I think it’s all round a better system plus, in the last few years Hive has discontinued a number of products which is never a good sign for longevity and customer support. If you’ve already got the Hive unit attached to your boiler you should easily be able to switch it out with the Tado wireless kit 😀

I have a combi boiler vaillant ecotec pro 28 and i think i have bought the wrong tado as i do not have a separate water tank so what do i need to do with the V3 starter kit ? Do i have to get the wired version and wire this to my existing thermostat ?
@MarksTechVlogs Жыл бұрын
I'm assuming you have got the version that has 3 parts? As shown in the video? The thermostat shown in this video (the square white part with the display) will take wires as being wireless so you should be able to replace your existing dial thermostat with it, use the hub and then discard the larger white box

@MarksTechVlogs2 жыл бұрын
@@pelemasa2516 There's not an easy way to do that as the thermostat basically turns the boiler on or off. The only way to control individual radiators is with the smart radiator valves amzn.to/3U777XP but this would mean one of your zones (upstairs or downstairs) would need one of those on each radiator so could get pricey. If you already have thermostatic radiator valves however they're super easy to fit.
