Mate, you're addendums are legendary. You've helped me understand why I've had trouble matching transistors in the past. I love my Matrixbrute so I'm also look forward to building this one for my eurorack 😎😎😎

Kyxe Music Yes have a look at yusynth.net theres practically a whole synth you can make and many modules have the option for eurorack or 5U power options. I think this last unit must have cost about £20 in parts.

I have an Arp Yves filter I need to finish, trouble shoot an lfo and adsr and I'll have a nice little modular finished! All perfboard, some tips; I manually layout but definitely use Yves starting points on his pcb's aswell. When placing components highlighters work great for flux hazed eyes! And as a final check I go through and beep out the schematic with the multi and mark it off to be sure. Thats also good for troubleshooting! Sometimes the wrong pin gets grounded

Thanks Merlin. I can Etch boards but I wanted to start these video's off by showing that these units can be completed without etching or cnc or ordering ready made boards. that way anyone should be able to get started on making a modular system of their own. I hope to eventually work my way through all the parts needed to build a whole synthesizer. best wishes from Markus.

Great video again, Markus! Keep up the good work! You might also want to check vero wire wrapping, it is like wire wrapping, but without the special feet. You just heat up the special wire, solder it and have it replace the PCB paths.

I would love to hear FM from yourl oscillators. Some nice and easy circuits to build if you feel inclinated to: A Low Pass Gate (you can build an extremely easy pasive version just with a homemade vactrol, a pair of resistors and a cap). Another cool module would be a ring modulator. Whatever, I love this new "I build my modular" series. Keep on recording! ;)
@markusfuller6 жыл бұрын
ZElTGElST yes do keep the requests coming in as I am not certain what to build next but I intend to just keep on going and work my way through as many circuits as i think i can manage. I think i may have to get another box made up soon though.

Very nice! I love the handmade quality of these modules. Steiner-Parker filters are a little crazy for my tastes but it sounds great, and I've never seen all-pass on one before. Would you use all-pass mode for phasing?
@CaalamusTube6 жыл бұрын
The Arturia stuff uses this Filter ( more or less )... I think that nasty Resonance behavior is what people like about it. I've got a Mini & a Micro, but I've also got a Mother 32. I like that Moog Ladder *MUCH* better. However, with a setup as expansive as yours... I could certainly see a time & place for a bit of chaos! Thanks for sharing these inspiring Projects with us Mr. Fuller. Nice haircut by the by :]
@markusfuller6 жыл бұрын
Caalamus I keep on toying with the mother 32. one day when I make a eurorack sized box I will have to think about getting the mother for sure.
@CaalamusTube6 жыл бұрын
It's pretty "under the hood" ...but I'm *AMAZED* by how versatile it is! I uploaded a jam a few days ago where the Mother was acting as a self contained Drum Machine! You can easily get Sequences out of it with three distinct Voices√

I'm curious about the level you are putting into the filter. In my eurorack modular I can put a very high level into a filter, higher than normal. In a few cases, like the Korg filter (most really) when I increase the signal level, it sort of overpowers the filter feedback, so the screaming resonance is diminished and you have a more punchy, thicker sound. I'm just wondering if you can do that to get a little more control over that feedback. It sounds much more pronounced than the filter in my Microbrute. And I find if you don't drive the Korg filter high enough it sounds kind of bad in that same way. Just too much screaming.
@markusfuller6 жыл бұрын
Scott Rogers Hi Scott yes I spent hours changing resistors etc to try and find something manageable, I will certainly try and overdrive it to see what happens but i did that with the signal generator and it still squealed but it was so high the scope showed it but it was out of human hearing range.
@ScottFromCanada6 жыл бұрын
Oh well, as long as the filter sounds different, it's still cool!

@markusfuller6 жыл бұрын
Klopfenpop music they both seem to work fine directly from the moog even though both the ladder and steiner are working on eurorack voltages.
@MegaKid3036 жыл бұрын
If you look on yves site he makes a lot in 12volt and with motm dotcom and eurorack headers

if you look on yves site he says that he has a eororack header on the pcbs and if you read which ever one you want will give you any alterations if needed for the 12v as dotcom and motm run on 15v

What module should I start with??
@MegaKid3036 жыл бұрын
You don’t test the transistors for hfe you test them for vbe there is a big difference for 1 volt per octave tracking therefor vbe is the most important distinction I just thought I’d clarify that as you can probably get away with it but it does say on ray Wilson’s site Ken’s site and with the Ian fritz’ site that it is importantly vbe not hfe a totally different thing.
@markusfuller6 жыл бұрын
the navigator I know that already and I do several of the tests but rather than making a longer video about transistor testing i was using the hfe reading in the video just as an example that handling thransistors while under test will give different readings due to temperature changes.

You could aways get some "proper" pcbs manufactured! it’s probably just as cheap as the veroboard you’re using, plus its way faster to populate and you can sell or give away the extras.
@markusfuller6 жыл бұрын
SouthpawShorts Hi I can make the proper boards but i wanted to start this series of by using something that anyone can sort of have a go at building one at home without the complications of ordering a board from a manufacturer. I will gradually introduce ways to make boards like etching & cnc in future videos.
@SouthpawShorts6 жыл бұрын
true good point! I suppose there are lots of places to learn about pcb layout, EAGLEcad etc; EEVblog is a good one, I’m sure you know it. I might give these filters a bash but for the eurorack format. Cheers!

The veroboard costs maybe 1€, the manufactured PCBs cost 10…15€ (don't forget shipping costs).
