Hi there, my subsequent 37 is not being recognized by my Mac. I’ve done everything from changing to usb cable to fiddling with every setting. The interesting thing here is that this time, the red midi indicator light on the synth does not flash when keys are pressed to indicate midi activity. Do you think it’s broken? Would it work if I switch to midi cables instead? Any help is appreciate it

I have an older modular system, a PAiA 4700 Modular, and will also be building a small Eurorack system of Behringer 55 modules. I plan on building a passive 8 HP module that will convert the 4700 and 55 to be able to play nice with other synths. Your simple circuit will allow me do do this, I hope! Thanks for sharing, and I am a new subscriber!

Nice finds! Might you trick out the Yamaha with some mods? If you're not aware of the D-lab channel, I suggest you check it out? Terry welcomes questions and he's quite good with older valve amps. Thanks for sharing! 👍

In the last example when running LEDs in parallel. Instead of using one 0.5W resistor, I assume you could've used 2 0.25W resistors...

Thank you for this! Sorry for being a bit anal but to make sure that a transistor is either NPN or PNP, as I see you testing, that is also predicated that the labeled side of the transistors are facing up, correct? That would be the consistent factor.

I have a box of medium power transistors and apart from finding out if they are PNP or NPN my main reason to watch your content was to see if I could identify where the base was, which I used to assume was in the middle, but apparently this is not always the case, so I assume your technique allows the identification of the base as well? Also I wonder if you could post content about protection diodes regarding back EMF from electric motors. Is this required even for small motors?

Don't know why, but this vid just popped up again. Had to re-watch. Was as much fun today, as it was nearly a decade ago. Has it been that long, already? LOL ;)

H ow feasible is flashing a custom firmware? The hardware they got right but the OS leaves much to be desired. No reason this thing shouldn't be an arpeggiator, for example.

What if you don’t have a data sheet? One can measure the voltage drop but is there a way to determine max current other than blowing it!??!

My guess: each BMC chip holds one plug-out you can install. That's why you have 3 slots for them. They do it like this in order to not have to wait to exchange data when you pick a different plug-out for a patch you want to play, pretty sure. Each BMC chip needs some extra memory so that's why there's symmetry there. The additional memory chip on the backside could very likely be memory used by the effects (delay/reverb).

You have done a superb job of explaining and illustrating the basics and managed to clear up a number of questions I had concerning led's and resistors and such. I've always been curious about basic electronics but never really pursued the topic in any real depth. I have done a bit of basic house wiring, but this stuff is new to me and looks like fun. The winters here are cold ... and longish. Thank you. I really appreciated your laying out each of the formulas.
