I really shouldn't be allowed to watch your great videos. My wife is going to have a fit when all the packages hit the floor over the next couple of days. Still, without your videos, I wouldn't have found out about the much bigger range of gear for the M50. Keep the awesome content coming.

A bit too compacted for me to properly explain in a comment, because it really depends on your application. Be sure to check out Crowley Crew on YT, he has some great videos for M50 owners.

I love the video. The only thing I don't like is that you are vague with the names of some of the equipment, such as the lens. Which forces you to go to the description. I get it with the affiliate links which you didn't mention in the video, for you to make money but you should still describe the names and relative details. Still thank you for the great video. And I am subscribed to your informative channel.

Love your vids, super detailed and informative. I am a new owner of the m50 and plan to use it for small freelance video contracts at some point. I'll try to build something similar for sure.

Good luck! Building the camera out tends to make it look more "pro" too, so clients feel like they get what they are paying for.

Manual, a bit above 1/2 on the gain, from memory. All the other special settings off.

Canon M50 with HDMI output does not carry the audio if you are using the Atomos Ninja V for external recording (the benefits are recording in better coded and longer recording time). Would the Big Microphone and Recorder that you suggested take care of this problem by recording the audio onto its SD card?
@markwiemels3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it would, but you wouldn't have an audio track in the video to easily/automatically sync in editing. So it could be done, would just have to manually line up the audio and the video, which isn't a big deal, but it is a little more fiddly.
@snowwalker99993 жыл бұрын
@@markwiemels Never done that before but it’s worth a try. I just don’t want to have to sell my m50 and buy the mark ii for that reason alone.

How happy are you with the Zoom F1-SP. Reviews are quite mixed...
@markwiemels3 жыл бұрын
The worst thing about it is the dicky, seemingly fragile, battery door. Mine has held up so far, but it seems like a pretty poor design. Th over build quality, is good otherwise, the mic has some self noise, but it usable for my purposes. Where this unit shines is the versatility and price point. There isn't anything out there, that can do everything this setup can, and it's pretty reasonably priced. So if you need/want that versatility, I would highly recommend it. If you are after the highest quality audio, and don't need the versatility, I would look at something else.
@ww1www3 жыл бұрын
@@markwiemels Thanks. I have been eyeing this thing, especially as I already have the H6 with the M/S and XY capsules, so this would add even more versatility.
@markwiemels3 жыл бұрын
@@ww1www I have traveled all over the world and the F1-SP, plus an extra lapel mic, is all I bring. I have lots of other, "better", audio gear, but for the space this setup takes up, nothing can compete.

Honestly, as a dude with a couple of cameras who knows very little about using them beyond basic point and shoot -- we shot a few interviews, a couple of years ago, in less than ideal conditions and had to fight to clean up the audio, but that's about the closest we ever came to "pro" usage -- this has kinda blown my mind. I actually saw another video talking about V-Mount batteries, which intrigued me and got me wondering if they were something I could use with my cameras ... and that led me here. I had never considered -- never even really knew -- that building a rig like this around even our modest M50 was a possibility. This has opened up a whole world of options for me. 🙂

The amount that first microphone is shaking really does show that you didnt test this at all. Theres no way that audio would be usable
@markwiemels3 жыл бұрын
It’s a shock mount, so you get some movement, but no noise comes from the movement. It is a directional mic, but not so direction that the movement causes any issues. This is actually how that microphone is designed to work.
