Yes. I find it one of the most fun lenses to use. It’s decently sharp or at least enough for me, it’s a gem for the price tag. As a wide angle lens, it has a very good performance using zone focusing, I just set it up between f/2.8 to f/4 and do my thing with no worries. Also a very stylish lens to use with a camera such as my xpro3

I picked up this lens for my canon r7, and really enjoy it. The image quality isn’t god enough to allow you to crop much (I shoot wildlife and crop all the time with my 100-500). The inability to crop + zero electronics, makes this a ton of fun to use. You mostly get what you get out of camera, and it forces you to become a better photographer and less of a photoshop guru.

I have this lens and I love it, but it's not a carry everywhere lens. while it is not large, it still is large enough to be uncomfortable on my x-t30. if i'm in a professional setting, than I don't care that it's bigger that I want it to be, but if i'm just walking around with my camera - I want a smaller lens.

I have both for Fujifilm mount. I prefer the 25mm. They are both only really suited to street photography where I’m shooting 5.6 and above. The 25 is smaller so it automatically wins and for me more aesthetically pleasing, it also works well with my IR Fuji XE1. The 23 mm f.4 is an ok affordable manual lens but don’t kid yourself into thinking you’re getting close to the performance of the Fujifilm 23mm f1.4 or the 23mm f2 on the x100v and vi or the equivalent Sony, Nikon and canon offerings. It is very cheap though and might be worth considering if you don’t already have the 25 or if for some reason you desperately need f1.4 on a 35mm equivalent with all the compromises.

I have both the 23mm/1.4 and the 25mm/2.0. In my experience, the 23mm is visibly sharper and delivers more contrast and detail wide open than the 25mm, especially at close focus distances. The 23mm can, in some cases, exhibit a slight halation or "glow" around bright, contrasty regions. It's not nearly as noticeable as I've seen in other budget fast primes. The bokeh difference between the two wide open isn't as significant as one might suspect, perhaps because of the very slightly longer FL of the 25mm. In terms of light gathering, I think the f/1.4 rating is a bit optimistic; my tests don't show a full stop more light-gathering in the 1.4, but it's closer to 1/2 to 2/3 stop . There seems to be a little focus shift from wide open to f/2.8 on the 23mm/1.4, so as usual, it's best to focus at working aperture if best sharpness is desired. By f/2.8, they're quite similar in sharpness and exposure, but in general, I prefer the overall rendering of the 23mm. If budget, or compactness is of primary concern, the 25mm/2 is a nice option at a ridiculously low price, but if I were going to keep one, it would be the 23mm/1.4, and if I was buying today, I'd spend the extra dosh for the 23mm. It's a little larger, but is more versatile because of slightly greater light gathering, slightly closer focusing, and it has better close-up and overall sharpness. If stopped-down street shooting is your primary interest, the differences between them are insignificant. I've used them both and have been happy with the results.
@markwiemels
@markwiemels 3 ай бұрын
They are both great lenses, and good value. The 23mm lets more light in, and might be a little sharpers, but I'm not sure you would see any difference in real world use. The 25mm is smaller, cheaper, and is a great street lens, as you would mostly use it at f5.6+ anyways (don't need the f1.4). There is almost nothing in it, to pick between them.

I have this lens but I've hardly used it. You really have to know what you can get away with shooting on this lens when opening up the aperture as the focal plane is not consistent. At f/1.4 you may focus on something at a distance and towards the center of the image, but notice other items closer to you are also in focus as you get towards the edge of the image. I'm surprised this was not mentioned in the review as it was pretty quickly obvious when I started using it.

I have this lens on my m43 camera, so it equates to 46mm on FF. I like the lens, the look, the image quality. However, it is heavy and bulky for m43, for my GX9. I use it with a grip on my camera for better handling. I would not use it for travel. I recently bought the Pergear 25mm f1.7, that is very small and light. I am just getting used to it, so far I am impressed. MF lenses can be fun.

There's no such thing as the best focal lenght, and even less for a medium wide lens. I could like more 55 or 57mm for the puny small FF35 format, or 120mm for 6x8, but in practice sometimes I find 43mm better for FF35, not very often but I still need it, or 90-93mm for 6x8, sometimes only 39mm gets the image I want on FF35, or 84-85 on 6x8, then sometimes 35 is better on FF35 but not that often, sometimes 31, 30, 29, 28, with or without PC shift, sometimes only a 26 can get the job done, sometimes only 24, very very rare a 20 on FF35 but sometimes is the only one that can get the image, 20 would be more useful for the much smaller then small shity APS-C if I would care about that - but I don't, sometimes only 15mm can get it on 35, but other times 85-90mm is the one, sometimes 135mm, sometimes only 200, sometimes only 300, sometimes only 600, etc. You can use a 300 instead of 400 and crop a little, or even 800 instead of 2400 for the Moon and crop a lot, but if you use a 70 or even 77 instead of 85-90 for a bust portret you need to crop and realy not get closer then 1.5m because the adult human head gets distorted, jared, gouggled from less then 1.5m with any focal lenght on any format, you need 5X spatial/volumetric diagonal of the subject for natural perspective. And on top of perspective distortion with any focal lenght, we get other distortions like the horrific droplet distortion with wider lenses, that is the correction for barrel distortion so tough luck with that...
