The U.S. version of street food in most places is the drive-thru of all our horrible fast food joints. Now I'll be dreaming of a fish taco for the next month, real food is so good!
@jeanniebrooks Жыл бұрын
@@GreyswyndirI ‘m not a patron of American fast food joints myself, but they are extremely popular all over the world from Paris to Thailand. It’s a shame that foreigners seem to think American food is all about the American fast food, but most of us don’t. There are GREAT American foods, most of them originating with the multitude of different immigrants & cultures that abound here, and the cuisines evolve to become uniquely American. There are loads of family run restaurants serving up generational family recipes, unfortunately, they are a dying breed where I live in Nor Ca. But plenty in NY, in the major cities….
@jeanniebrooks Жыл бұрын
I would LOVE that smoked opah! I love the smoked salmon and trout, swordfish, halibut we can get here. Now this is an example of a food that takes a long preparation to make, and Mark appreciates it. Does he appreciate aged cheese (months to years) or balsamic vinegar (up to 12-20 years) or wine, which takes a great deal of finesse and knowledge (not for the home cook). I’m sure he appreciates fermented fish sauce and gochujang, which takes 3 yrs & TLC- but it doesn’t translate the tastebuds he has for peasant food n Asia, Mexico, Philippines, elsewhere, which he likes better than western food. He doesn’t really get western food.
@Greyswyndir Жыл бұрын
@@jeanniebrooks - You're spot on. My family came from Italy and a lot of our food has become uniquely Italian-American. The humble steak sandwich has turned into a phenomenon on the east coast, now known mostly as a cheese steak sub. Pizza is an American staple, as is the German Frankfurter (Hot Dog). I think we've got Jewish influence on the Hot Dog as well. Mexican food has become very popular in the past 40 years, as well as sushi, once uniquely Japanese, but Americans have embraced it with enthusiasm. I'm sure I'm missing many dishes that have become part of our culture.

OMG!! I absolutely Love Mexican Fish tacos!!❤️ I lived in San Diego for 10 years and we went to either Tijuana, Rosarita, or Ensenada, Mexico a couple of times a month for their sea food and fish tacos. Mexico has the best food ever and I’m salivating just watching this. I swear I could eat my weight’s worth in fish tacos!!😋😋😋 I also really really Love Mexico and the Mexican people are so warm, kind, generous, and gracious.❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰 Such a wonderful country!!❤️😍

We tried La Guerrerense last month on a cruise. It was AMAZING! Had to be the highlights of our trip! We all had the shrimp tostadas then the chef recommended the Campechana and had to order 2 more!! Hands down best shrimp tostada and Campechana ceviche tostadas EVER!!! I added the peanut oil and tamarindo salsa to my Campechana. We ate there at 11am and no long line! So our group ordered more as we pleased. We will be back!!!!!
