United Airlines Review - Business Class from Lisbon to New York City (and NYC Pizza)

We flew from Lisbon to NYC on United Airlines - business class food review.

On Day 28 of our Round The World Trip with Star Alliance we flew from Lisbon, Portugal to Newark (but going to New York City) on United Airlines business class. I wasn’t expecting that much from United Airlines, but it turned out to be a great flight, with amazing service, and surprisingly very good food. Here’s the full United Airlines flight review.
4:57 Lunch on United Airlines: Lisbon to New York City - Since we boarded the flight in the morning, the first meal we at on the flight is lunch. I chose to order salmon with couscous with some kind of sauce on it. The salmon paired with the couscous and tomatoey sauce was delicious. It was a full gourmet meal experience on business class.
9:55 Dinner on United Airlines - After taking a nap for a few hours and watching a couple movies, it was time for another meal… I think it was dinner this time? Since they had salmon on the menu again, I couldn’t resist. Again, it was good.
11:07 Newark Liberty International Airport - We arrived to Newark airport after about a 6 hour flight from Lisbon, Portugal. From the airport after passing from customs and immigration we went to the train station and bought tickets for $13 from Newark to NY Penn Station Manhattan.
13:26 Courtyard New York Manhattan / Chelsea - In New York City, my wife and I stayed at Courtyard New York Manhattan / Chelsea, located just a 5 minute walk from NY Penn Station. We checked into the hotel and our room was fantastic with a great view of NYC.
15:33 Joe's Pizza - Without a doubt, pizza is one of the most famous foods to eat in NYC, and so it was only fitting that my first meal in NYC would be pizza. After walking around for a while, Ying and I were not too far from Joe's Pizza, one of the many legendary pizza slice restaurants in New York City. The pizza was pretty good, and it had actually been a while since I had eaten pizza. Price - $2.75 for cheese slice, $3.75 for pepperoni.
It was a good but tiring day, and I our flight on United Airlines was very nice. Welcome to New York City - more food coming!

Serena Lynn I am living vicariously through Mark Wiens. So much so that I get a hard-on only when he does. Very inconvenient when I am sometimes surprised with a stiffy in an formal social setting or when getting frisked by the police. Arguing about the gyro not the real lamb dishes, American pizza's not the "real" pizza, so weird. Have you seen Mark's video at Rome? He had a rectangular shape pizza, and he's not complaining that it's not the "real" Italian pizza shape. I bet even after Mark's travel to Mexico and tasted so many "real" tacos there, he won't be complaining if somehow he's back to the States (Arizona, if I remember correctly) and having tacos there too. Welcome to New York City. Great way to start off eating pizza in the West Village. A slice of pizza for $2.75. One better be on a diet when they come here or have money to splurge. One thing they took away that I think they need to bring back is the metrocard one-day unlimited rides. About 10 years ago I took around two people from Asia to several places in the same day. That would be very expensive now unless one gets the 7-day unlimited pass which is a lot more expensive and eve back then the visitors I took around was for a weekend. That view out the Courtyard by Marriott is nothing but a sea of roof tops. Nothing really inspiring to see as in some of the past videos where the views were natural and fantastic. It's just a concrete jungle. Hopefully we will see some exciting things. Maybe we will see the fat lady in the booth that laughs and laughs heartily down at Coney Island.
