yes , i referd to the x2 22nf in the black electrolitic capacitors the acquitecture didnt require a higher current drow from the main supply for the caps and smoothing for 22nf with film x2 capacitor

Those 22uf were upped from 10uf in the alternative BOM Khron created on GDIY to filter out more DC noise on Homero's board, but I don't really hear a difference between this BOM and the original BOM.

The first two definitely sounded better than the rest to my ears. I wonder how much of it is the capsule, and how much of it might be the body/headbasket. I liked the EQ profile of number 1 the best, but number 2 sounded smoother in the midrange to me. Might be the higher quality transformer.

I definitely agree the larger, more u87-ish size bodies and headbaskets improve the tone. That 3u transformer does feel like it’s doing more in the midrange than the Ali.

@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff Have you tried the UTM transformer? Or are you perhaps planning to? Also, those 797 capsules are the older CY032 variety, right? Judging from the flathead screws. Cheers, and keep up the great work.

Have you considered trying a different capsule with this PCB? I plan on trying this once all the parts come in. Trying the k67 and k47 type capsules from JLI. Think it would be fun for you and cool for us to watch

I have considered it, but I haven’t yet gotten far enough with my current experiments to pivot yet, but it’s a really good idea.

Number 2 sounds the best to me. You've got to come up with a better name though. "Number 2" doesn't fit such a nice sounding mic, haha.

I 3d print them myself. You can find .stl files for 3d printable mic capsule mounts online for free.
