Jimmy was very gracious and clearly ecstatic that Jeff was receiving this honor. Must have amazed them both, remembering their early times as boys. And Jimmy's comments to the question about bands trying to succeed today - really, it's a whole other world. When Jeff and Jimmy came up, rock was the big new deal and they were at the forefront of a genre (rock!) that had a massive international audience. Now rock is a niche, much diminished in sales a concert draws, and fading as is the oldest of the Boomers. It's difficult to see a rock band achieving such widespread success today. Sadly.

Jeff wasn't just a guitarist, he WAS the guitar! the amount of heart, soul & feeling he put into his playing was incomparable, a true legend that will be sorely missed, RIP Jeff.....😪🎸🎶

I was born only 2 miles away from his hometown. Never formerly met him, but I went to first school in Wallington, so may have seen him as a teenager in passing. I also attended the grammar school he was at, but he would have left a few years before I got there. Never forgotten.
