Thank you both for being courageous in sharing your beliefs ! I would like to say respectfully, being a LDS member is different to being a Christian. These are two separate religions with varying views. I encourage you to explore and question your LDS beliefs (particularly as you stated that Utah can be like a “bubble” in its religion diversity), even if it’s then to affirm your own beliefs, then that’s great. Either way, it’s healthy to question things and God will take you in the right direction if you allow Him to. Something interesting to watch is Preston Perry’s video - “Preston Perry talks to a group of LDS elders” (his acc. is - “Apologetics with Preston Perry”). I hope it deepens your understanding. :) Appreciate your content as always !

As an LDS person the reason we state we are Christian is because we share a belief of Christ! It just helps create a common ground. It’s not meant to umbrella two religions, just to create understanding :)

@@lorynhansenn Lots of religions believe in Jesus! (Islam, for example.) There are many differences between LDS and Christianity, and the identity of Jesus just brushes the surface. For example, we believe that Jesus IS God in a really cool three-in-one deal called the trinity. We also believe that God is the "alpha and the omega," meaning that there were no gods before him and there will be none after. Our God is unimaginably powerful and transcends time. I just think it's really amazing how powerful He is, and I would encourage you to research some of the other differences, because I think you would really be in awe of just how incredible God is through the eyes of Christianity! Sending love and prayers xoxo :)

You both seem like lovely girls! I love seeing young people walk in faith. I really encourage you both to look into the LDS church, its doctrines, the Book of Mormon, the history of Joseph Smith and compare it to the Bible and the biblical definition of Christianity. Johnny Harris has a few videos on his experience and the history of Mormonism. Maybe you will compare it and it will draw you closer to your faith, maybe you’ll learn something new but I do encourage you to question it. I was raised Catholic and I had my own faith crisis around 18/19 where I had to test all Catholic doctrine against the plain Bible and the true God was revealed to me. That really strengthened my faith. It’s so important, especially as “church kids”, to ask questions and understand your faith. ❤

Thanks for sharing about Mormonism! I have my curiosities about it as a Christian - which like others have mentioned, I respectfully don't think LDS members are considered to be Christian. We have many denominations but they all hold to the same doctrinal belief... that Jesus is the Son of God - FULLY human and FULLY divine. Christians believe anything otherwise is heretical. We do not believe that His authority is imparted by the Father but Jesus IS God since the beginning (John 1). Some food for thought... if a mortal man can become God, does that mean all human beings can be God? If all human beings can become God, then what makes God so holy? And what happens if a human being fails to live up to the standards of Scripture? Do they un-become God? That means God is imperfect? If salvation can be earned through good works, then what was the point of the Cross? When we say that Jesus is the Perfect Sacrifice - it's because we believe that no one else is perfect and that ALL have sinned (Romans 3:23). If we can earn our way into relationship with God, Jesus didn't need to come to earth. My intention is not to be negative here but to challenge what you shared. I find it important to defend truth (which I have spent years and years studying to land on Christianity), and to emphasize to you the importance of being clear/accurate when you are teaching thousands of viewers. Like it or not, by sharing the content in this video, you are acting as a teacher and you want to make sure you can back up what you're saying. Calling yourselves Christian may be a norm in the LDS church but I would highly encourage you to research Christology and how Christians have landed on our doctrine. There's no harm in it - you'll either gain more insight on your own beliefs or discover new revelations. Anyway, I hope this was not discouraging and I appreciate your desire to seek truth, Marla! Keep going.

You both seem like lovely girls! Respectfully Christianity & the LDS faith are entirely different. The differences are almost as drastic between Jewish & Catholic. They are not interchangeable. I really encourage you both to look into the LDS church, its doctrines, the Book of Mormon, the history of Joseph Smith and compare it to the Bible and the biblical definition of Christianity. Christian’s do not consider LDS as Christian. Lds classify themselves as Christian. Again, they are different religions & that’s okay! However, they are not the same :)

@@ilovepalmtrees08 are we talking as a noun or as an adjective? In that case - Catholics are Christian, JWs are Christian, 7th day adventists are Christian… so as a verb (an action) someone who believes in Christ then all “Jesus believing” religions are Christian. Which they are not. Even surface level attending services at these different institutions are VASTLY different. but Christianity is not Mormonism because it’s a different religion. That’s okay - it’s literally a different religion. Lds to Christian - We don’t see eye to eye on MOST things doctrinally. The trinity, the conception of who Jesus is, the concept over grace etc… honestly I could go on & on. Point being Catholics don’t define themselves as Christian… they are Catholic. Bc they are different religions. Here’s a tiktok that explains this concept better than my comment LOL
@commentarybruce696
@commentarybruce696 9 ай бұрын
@@ilovepalmtrees08Respectfully, this isn’t true. LDS aren’t Christians because many of their beliefs go against the Christian Bible, which was inspired by God. LDS teaches that Lucifer and Jesus were brothers, which is blasphemous and not true at all. LDS also teaches that when men get to heaven, they will be able to have thousands of wives and have ✨relations✨with thousands of women. This goes against the Christian teaching where God commands Christians to only have one wife and only have relations with that one wife. LDS also teaches white supremacy, and Jesus, while he was on earth, was a man of color. God created all ethnicities, so it goes against the Bible to imply that White people are the superior race.

@@sarahmarie3317 Can you please direct me to where it states this in LDS scripture? The Journal of Discourses is not LDS scripture. It is simply a compilation of transcriptions of speeches and other addresses from the mid to late 1800s when the church was being established. Some of the teachings can be helpful but should not be treated as church doctrine. Just because LDS people may have written it does not mean it fully aligns with LDS doctrine and beliefs. The discourses are not officially published by the LDS church so it shouldn’t be used to depict their beliefs. 😊

I challenge that statement.” Doctrines of Salvation, Vol. 1:18 he also states “The birth of the Savior was a natural occurrence unattended with any degree of mysticism, and the Father God was the literal parent of Jesus in the flesh as well as in the spirit” Religious Truths Defined, 44 That would mean Joseph Smith claims he knows more than God the father.
