There’s really something about these stars from the golden age of Hollywood that just doesn’t exist anymore and will most likely never be duplicated
@DmitriyK124 жыл бұрын
Please don't forget that the present becomes the past and the future becomes the present ... only the ever passing time can surely answer the ultimate questions: will music evolve and can singers ever match this golden era of pristine quality !

Some people are actors/actresses, some singer, and *some* performers. Marlene is the latter of the three. She's 'performing' the song so to speak. If you want to see one of the greatest actresses and singers and performers, watch "The Man That Got Away," by Judy Garland from the 1950s film, _"A Star Is Born" (1954)_ KZbin: "Judy Garland - "The Man That Got Away" from "A Star Is Born"

I SAW HER in 1968 in LA's Music Center! Front row balcony. I will never forget seeing her bathed in only a dark spot around her. I think for "Where Have All The Flowers Gone." Anti-war ballad written by Pete Seeger in 1955. STUNNING.

All of twenty in 1968 older friend went to College in Germany got LA Music Center Ahmanson tickets 1st row center balcony for Marlene Dietrich, dazzling sold-out event stunning to experience "Where Have All The Flowers Gone" defiant riveting performance received long thunderous standing ovation still remember well to this day, flowers & gifts covered stage people went crazy running down to be up close to her, Marlene was amazing in 1968 more energetic than late 1972 picked up gorgeous spray of flowers, never have seen anything to compare with her performance "Falling In Love" post a classic of a Legendary Icon whose likes we will never see again...

She cannot bend over to pick up the flowers people are throwing to her. She is about 70 years old here. It's very touching when a woman in the audience figures it out and hands her some flowers. You can see Marlene really loves the flowers.

Lee Whelchel. Amazing! Just before her 71st birthday. Marlene Dietrich 27/12/01-06/05/92.

It's hard for her to bend over -- no disrespect -- because she was sewn into her gowns at that time. True.
@amberc58846 жыл бұрын
Exactly, she could not bend over not because of age but because of the construction of her gown. She was a perfectionist in her on stage appearance, she is wearing very tight girdle type undergarments and she sewn into her gown. Age has nothing to do with it. Anyway she was amazing:)

Such a wonderful artist to the end. She taped her skin back to keep it taught and had a brace to support her back. Yet she gave it her all and never let anything show. A true star and Diva they just don't make them like that anymore. Maybe that s a good thing, who knows but by goodness she was amazing.

Grace is a unique virtue to possess. It allows a woman to be under great strain, and no one is the wiser, yet she endures. It allows a woman to be gentle and kind to complete strangers, while maintaining a feminine composure, when others are loud and boisterous! It's the real beauty and strength within...Marlene had it!

This was from Marlene Dietrich's TV Special "I Wish You Love" (also known as "An Evening with Marlene Dietrich"), filmed in England in late 1972 and broadcast in early 1973. It was not really part of a tour, but a special performance especially filmed for television. The audience was all invited guests who did not pay to get in. Dietrich disliked this television special; she felt that it wasn't as good or as spontaneous as her "real" live shows were. Most music and theatre critics who saw her perform on other occasions agree with her. But this is the primary record we have of her concert career, which lasted from 1954 to 1975. Born in 1901, this was filmed just days before her 71st birthday.
