What I admired most of Dietrich, (aside from her glamorous image) is her discipline. It comes up with time to most of us, if ever. Journey through life, communicable through her songs. Impeccable. 🌱⛲💎⭐💙

I saw her concert in Brighton, England in the 60s. I loved the concert. Amusing that the British audience was her favourite. I certainly clapped a lot.

She’s very lively, all ‘there’ here. Ironic this is her last year of performance, a year that ended unhappy. In many, even 60ties interviews, she sounds subdued, unmoved and not particular interested. Here she really expresses her opinions on matters. Also a good interviewer. 2021 The world did not get any better. She’s no icon ? Sorry Marlene but your a Statue of Grandness.

The parts she played were in fact perfect for her and I’m still made she never won an academy award because of how she perfected the part. You look at Gloria Swanson and see she played Norma Desmond and you instantly think she’s a mean spiteful woman but in reality (in interviews) she is this peachy cutie pie you just wanna put in your pocket. And you know they missed out on an academy award opportunity, it’s the same here with Dietrich! She played characters that are nothing at all like her real self, she’s extremely patient, calm mannered, civil. And her characters are either bouncy, hyper, extremely innocent to almost childlike, virgin-istic, she wows you when she goes from that to bold, sophisticated, proper, head on shoulders, don’t-mess-with-me feminist new side! She knew how to turn her character around! She was great at it!

This interview is unique and she seems open and sincere, telling important things about her life and approach to work and presenting in general, her views.

I guess to show her human side, she’s not a perfect faced woman. There aren’t lighting around her SHE can direct. These are public photos. She was extremely strict on lighting and camera angles and in public, nature shows us her real face without forced shadows, rays of light, she comes out the way she was made naturally.

ITS SAD LIKE GORETO GARBO BUT IN HER LATER YEARS SHE RECLUSIED HERSELF INTO HER APARTMENT. BUT AT LEAST SHE DID IT 15 YEARS BEFORE SHE DIED
@marlenearchives
@marlenearchives Ай бұрын
It's not actually true that she locked herself 'at least for 15 years'. She was still flying from Paris to New York in her later days (1978, for example). And she was still going out to restaurant sometimes in early-mid 80s.
