Marlene, you are so cute and truly a bird brain! And I mean that in a good way! You think like a bird and have lot of good ideas and advice. I have enjoyed and learned a lot. I love birds...so far just the wild ones, but I study them a lot and they come when I call and go out to feed them. I live in the forest and have come to understand their personalities and behaviors. So cute! I also help any wild birds who get hurt and need rehabilitation. I have caught so many birds that have gotten trapped in the house or the greenhouse. I go up to them quickly and just scoop them up. Hummingbirds, a raven, flickers. One time, a bird I helped after it crashed into my house, he stuck around for a week and kept watching me and whistling to me for about a week before he moved on. He was on the ground stunned and it was a cold day. I picked him up and held him and kept him warm until he was better and hour later. He kept closing his eyes and going limp and I just kept him stimulated and warm and cozy in my shirt. I am learning their calls and am learning to call them to me. Birds are fun!

11:34 I couldn't agree more!!! If you want your bird to eat something or more of something just eat it/act like your eating it in front of them, it's worked for every single bird I've ever had. Idk if it's because they eat in a flock and want to partake in eating with you to bond or if it's just because they're fatties and never turn down a meal lol either way this is the best way to make them think that it's their idea. Great live Marlene!!

I love your videos so much! I’m a prospective parrant, and I’ve found your videos extremely helpful. I know you’ve done a video about what birds shouldn’t eat, but can you do a video about bird safe fruits, veggies, and other foods?

Hi, I have two cockatiels that refuse to go into their cage. Before I had a cage that was too small for them, I didn't have the money to upgrade so I felt bad and I let them out of their cage 24/7. Now, I bought them a big cage with a play top but they still refuse to go into it. They are tame and step up without problems but if they see I'm going to put them in the cage they fly away and it's impossible to catch them because they really get freaked out. Help! I have spoiled them and now... What if there's a fire or something and we need to get out quickly? I can't put them to bed at any time and they don't even get 10 hours of sleep. And my whole living room is always full of poo
@MARLENEMCCOHEN7 жыл бұрын
Oh man, it sounds like the good news is that they are tame so you will have to cup the top of the bird with your other hand and place the bird in the cage yourself very night until they get used to it.

I'm sorry, I didn't explain myself properly. They are only recently tame, they are both rescues, and specially the female, has taken her a long time to get to trust me (a year and a half). If I do that she'll be afraid of me forever! Is there any way to do this without making it scary? As I said they freak out a lot. I don't think she was let out at all for a long time (I don't know how old she is) and now she doesn't want to be in a cage at all. She has been out of the cage for the 2 years I have her, but I'd like to be able to put her in the cage sometimes. Thanks for answering.

I need help asap I just got 2 love birds bout 2 weeks ago and 1 is nice she is starting to stop biting but the other is being more aggressive then ever he's mainly only biting holes in my shirt and I hear a click when he dose it and any other clothing he gets a hold. of I gave him paper but he's not making strips for nesting idk what to do to help him when I got both I did clip their wings I do a lot of what I have seen in your videos but for him noting is working

Picasso has the same problem, I can't wear things with zippers or lace holes or he will go at them and there is no stopping him. Honestly, I always have to have something in my hand that he likes to play with to get him to stop... one thing you can do though is get one of those parrot neck wraps that you wear on you when you are hanging out with your bird. They can chew that all up instead, I think it would be great for your situation. It is like a small cape.

He bites everything from me to my clothes and idk what to do I think he hates me I have chew toys for them and cuttle bone but is their any way to have them be less aggressive?

Yes they are capable but NOT ALL BIRDS TALK. And that really shouldn't even be a FACTOR in the decision on if you're getting one and what species

why not take the videos, from bird to flight, what about that aspect? I just woke up. And I don't mean the snipped fathers. I mean bird flight outside ! Get the locals into it, show how the environment is killing birds. And make an argument !
