Hi Beverly! Oh no! I didn't catch it during editing! I'm so sorry! Yes, you are 100% correct! Crushed Almond is lighter than Milkshake. That's what happens when I try to add many colors in one video. Thank you so much for this! This really helped me with the new colors and color coding in general. As a cool tone girlie I always have a little bit of trouble finding the right shade that doesn’t have too much warmth. Because too much warmth tends to cancel out what little warmth I have to my skin tone, haha. I can definitely see myself wearing crushed almond or milkshake blonde in this collection.

Hello My Friends! As I was editing this video, I caught a few mistakes and need to apologize for my errors. I called Mocha Maple Brown as Mocha Maple R. This color does not have a root. The correct color name is Mocha Maple Brown. Also, I contacted Belle Tress regarding the color 14 which appears lightest brown on Coolest Ash Brown and as a dark blonde on Dark Brown + HL. The information provided is that the color appears lighter on Dark Brown + HL due to the darker base. Lastly, in Belle Tress, and 8 is a brown while a 10 is a medium brown.I do have reviews on most of these colors where they can be seen in natural light; however, I tried to adjust my camera & lighting in order for the colors to show as accurately as possible. I will keep these settings for future videos. xoxo Marlene

Hi Marlene. This was a great color overview! Thank you. I wear auburns and reds and one frustration is that so many reviewers use primarily blondes. I always appreciate that you include auburns frequently. (Of course, you look great in those colors!) I’ve been leaning more towards lighter reds (fiery copper, cherry cream, for example) and I find that I have lots of questions about how brands other than Jon Renau and Raquel/Gabor do their reds. That would be truly a helpful video!

Incredibly interesting and helpful video, Marlene! I love the cooler brunettes in the City Collection and your comparisons and descriptions are super-useful! And even though I don’t wear blondes or reds, I was fascinated! The one thing many of us can’t determine even with the color codes, is the amount of each color used, therefore identical color codes won’t be the same from style to style. So challenging sometimes!! Keep up the great videos!!!
@MarlenesWigChatStudio8 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for visiting! I'm happy to know my video was helpful. Color codes are not always easy and different brands add letters to their colors. Usually, colors with a / in between the numbers and no letters indicates there is an even blend and no root such as 4/27/30. The first number is the base color, and in this case it'd be 4 (darkest brown) blended with 27 and 30 (light and dark auburn). If the code were in Jon Renau and it read FS4/27/30, the FS indicates Fashion Syrup so we'd have a base of 4 with chunky highlights in the 27 & 30. Let's continue with Jon Renau. They also use RH in some codes such as 10RH16. The first number is the base color (10 a medium brown) and the RH indicates there's 33% of the number following it; in this case, there's 33% of 16 (blonde). In JR, 27/30S4, would be a blend of the 27 & 30 with a root of 4. JR uses an S followed by a number to indicate the color has a root and color of the root. Other brands use different letters for roots: RW adds an SS (shadow shade or root) and Noriko adds LR (long root) or R (root). Henry Margu adds GR (gradient root). These are just some basics. I hope they help. xoxo Marlene

Hi DW, BT has discontinued may colors and styles from the Cafe Collection. I'm not certain if Ginger is one of the colors being discontinued. I'll look it up and get back to you. I did have this conversation with BT. They wanted to add more colors and felt the best way was to have the different collection. The fibers are certainly different in the Lux and City collection from what we had come to know in the Cafe. I honestly feel there has been great improvement to the caps, fibers, and lace fronts on the City Collection which is more comparable (price wise) to the Cafe. xoxo Marlene

Thank you for this! I've been so disappointed in the new BT collections because of the lack of deep brunettes, so I agree, I hope they expand the color range! Most of the brunettes in the City and Lux collections are ashy except for a token shade with bold orangey highlights, so what are we True/Deep Autumns (warm complexions) who only look great with darker hair to do, lol? I need something in the BT Ginger or Chocolate w/Caramel zone, ideally between. Just a natural darkish warm brunette with dimension (or subtle balayage), like so many of us have naturally, and yet which is so hard to find in synthetics!

Hi Linda, thank you so much for visiting! Yes, it is a lot of info. Perhaps, I should have broken the video into two rather than one video. I went through many blondes before I realized I needed a root to match my brows and not appear washed out; I also learned that if it's true golden blonde I can't wear it but I can wear cool blondes (ashy & platinum) or reddish blondes that lean auburn or caramel. I did this by purchasing inexpensive ones from clearance or open box section as well as some from wig sisters. xoxo Marlene

Thanks for reviewing the new city collection blonde shades. It helps abit in deciding which blonde might suit me. I have already got Newport wig in crushed almond blonde and its lovely! What I would like to ask you Marlene, is whether the Milkshake or beige linen blondes have any ash leaning towards silver? I find butter beer blonde a little ashy on me but if one of these newer shades is more platinum similar to crushed almond, tres LECHES or burnt biscuit blonde then I'd be fine with that? Thanks 🙂🙏

Thank you, Marlene, for your wonderful review of all the colors in the new Belle Tress City Collection. I was struggling as I was trying to more or less match, and perhaps surpass, my 2 favorite colors, Palm Springs Blonde in JR and Shaded Biscuit in RW. Though I always like Belle Tress styles, I always found that Butterbeer Blonde's root was too dark, and Bombshell Blonde was meh. Now🎉, I can try some colors in the new City Collection because of your review!❤ I am thinking of Crushed Almond for a dupe to JR Palm Springs Blonde and Milkshake Blonde for RW Shaded Biscuit. What do you think, am I on the money? How about if I wanted an unrooted match, like BT's discontinued Cream Soda Blonde, or RW's Biscuit? ( I am in love with RW 16/22SS, Shaded Iced Sweet Cream, not yet released on many of my favorite styles🤞) Please do another review like this one for us on the new Belle Tress Lux Collection, as now I am so much better oriented on colors! You are just FABULOUS!🫢🤭🤗

Hi Beautiful! Thank you so much for visiting and your very sweet comment. Yep, you got it correct matching the colors. Going off memroy, the only unrooted blonde in the City Collection is Buttercream Blonde which is very warm due to all the golden blonde in the color which would be nowhere close to Biscuit or Cream Soda Blonde. I did a color comparison of all the brunettes in the Lux. I'll see if I can get the blondes to do the same. Big Hugs, my friend! xoxo Marlene

Marlene thanks for this color comparison. I appreciate so much that you take care to use the right lighting to best show the colors more accurately. I wish that BT would offer more brunettes in their City collection. I have warm undertones like you. The coolest ash brown 8/14 looks good on you, but I was under the impression that I needed to stay away from cool colors, as it might wash me out? But yet when I was very young my hair dresser told me that my natural hair color was Ashy Brown. What is your opinion of a medium color with warm undertones wearing a cool color? Also in your video last month you were introducing the City Collection, you compared this color ( coolest ash brown) to RW Iced Cafe Latte. I have 2 wigs that are Iced Cafe Latte. This Coolest Ash Brown appears much darker in your videos. So I'm a little confused. Thanks again for doing what you do.
@MarlenesWigChatStudio8 ай бұрын
Hi Lisa, thank you so much for visiting and your comment. I'm so happy to know my video and the lighting was helpful. I have a medium tan skin tone and my undertone is neutral with a bit of olive. While I can wear cool reds & blondes, warm or cool brunettes, and greys, I have to run from golden blondes and warm reds. I'm not certain why that is. I've read that cool tone should wear cool, but I've also read the opposite. In my other video, I believe I said Coolest Ash Brown seemed similar to Iced Cafe Latte; however, I no longer have it. Hoestly, I was going by memory. Iced Cafe Latte is 9/24 and coolest ash brown is 8/14. The base color is nearly identical since 8 & 9 are right next to each other; however, the highlights in Cafe Latte are lighter (24) than we find on Coolest Ash Brown (14). I think Coolest Ash Brown appears darker due to the highlights not being as light as we find in Cafe Latte. I apologize about that and really should have explained it better. xoxo Marlene

Thank you so much for this color comparison video Marlene!! It is so hard to tell the differences in fast lives and other reviewers who don't have as good lighting as you. I really appreciate the time it takes to do these and your thoroughness. It is very helpful. Thank you! What is your favorite blond? I am a brunette also and wish they had more brunettes to choose from. So I am considering a blond. 😊
@MarlenesWigChatStudio8 ай бұрын
Hi Deirdre, thank you so much for stopping by! I'm so happy to know my video was helpful. As a brunette, I had tremendous difficulty moving to blondes; since I was determined, I did it in baby steps: Mocha with Cream (I felt I was wearing a platinum blonde when I first put it on my head), then went to Toffee Truffle from Jon Renau and SS Hazelnut from Raquel Welch. If you want to go this route, I'd say go with Mocha Maple Brown since it's heavily highlighted with auburn. If you want to jump into blondes, it depends if you prefer warmer or cooler colors. If you prefer a warmer from the City Collection, I'd say Caramel Blonde. If you prefer cooler, then Raw Sugar Blonde. Something else I do to feel comfortable in the blondes is I make sure they have a root to match my brows. I realize not everyone likes rooted color, but just thought I'd mention it. xoxo Marlene

Raw Sugar is not really a cool color. If you want to see it in natural light, I reviewed Montecito in Raw Sugar and showed in natural light. I believe I said in this video that it's neutral leaning warm. I apologize if I didn't mention it. xoxo

@MarlenesWigChatStudio28 күн бұрын
Hi Cathy, I understand. Perhaps get a color or two you think you might like, look at the return policy, and return whatever you don't like. If it's your first wig, try to keep the color and style as close to your own as you can. Some retailers don't charge restocking fees, some give a week to return while others give 30 days. Don't remove the tag, shake, cut, comb out the zig zag part if it has one, in order to return whatever you don't like. Try on for color, length, and fit (you can move the adjusters); if those three boxes check for you, then you can style. If not, put it back in the box and initiate the return. xoxo Marlene

Thank you for this video, Marlene! I honestly don't understand what Bell Tress is thinking? I was sure they'd come up with more colors for the City Collection soon but instead there's gonna be the "Italian" collection next? On top of this they discontinued new Cafe collection styles from last year that are having an extended lacefront like Secret and Timeless? WTH, Bell Tress? I recently changed my color from Mocha with Cream to Brown Sugar Sweet Creme and my regular style is a Lob. Secret was MY wig, just perfect. What am I supposed to do now? I don't want to change my color again anytime soon so I guess you just lost me to a Raquel Welch Lob style with an extended lacefront in Shaded Cappuccino.
@MarlenesWigChatStudio8 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you so much for stopping by. I'm right there with you and truly wish I had an answer why BT has eliminated some of the styles that had recently launched such as Secret and Timeless. I know new styles are being added to the Cafe Collection. My hopes is there may have been some issues (factory related) with the discontinued styles and a re-launching them either with the same name or different ones but with better cap construction. They may have switched factories because the cap construction on both the Lux and the City collection are much better than on the Cafe. The fibers have also been improved. Please know this is just a guess on my part. As for the four new Italian styles, those are part of the City Collection. There are also new additions coming to the Lux Collection. I think SS Cappuccino may be the way to go; another suggestion is to have some back ups of Timeless and/or Secret. I know Shirley's was offering a substantial discount on the discontinued styles. I'm really sorry. I wish I had some better suggestions and answers for you. xoxo Marlene

Thanks for this extremely informative color video, Marlene. Based upon my screen, that Caramel Blonde R looks like a dupe for the Noriko Nutmeg F. With that said, I do really love a couple of the new BT City Collection styles (I have a number of their cafe collection wigs, e.g, Amaretto, Stumptown, Peerless 14", Caliente, Dalgona), but none of the colors appeal to me. I really hope they expand their color selection in their new line, as I will not order any otherwise. OT, but can you please give me your personal opinion as to your favorite wig brand for comfort, non-itchy, on a lace/lace-front wig(s)? I realize that everyone's skin responds differently to materials, lotions, creams, etc., but many times there is consistency. Thanks in advance. Thanks again for your video, much appreciate and so helpful.

Hi, thank you so much for stopping by! I'm hoping they expand their colors in the City Collection as they did with Cafe. We may see it down the road because this collection seems to have been pretty popular with the exception of the limited colors. I don't have sensitive skin; therefore, I really can't speak of which are non-itchy. Perhaps 90% of my wigs are Belle Tress and I love my human hair wigs. While I do have a few from other brands, it's not many but mostly due to styles and fibers. I prefer heat friendly. I apologize; I know I'm not any help with this. xoxo Marlene

@@MarlenesWigChatStudio Thank you for your response, Marlene. I do hope so, e.g., Belle Tress expanding color choices on the City Collection. I used to wear HH exclusively for years and years. But with the Heat Friendly fibers looking and feeling so natural, and the color choices, I much prefer the synthetics these days. I do have a Helen of Troy hot air brush I use on my heat friendly fibers when they start to get funky. As to lace, I do have really sensitive skin. Someone else suggested I use It Stays (I have always kept a fresh bottle of It Stays in my supplies for 20 year!) on the lace, because maybe it is the lace shifting around that is making it itch. I used to use it on wigs before they had so many great products like the comfy, low-profile wig grips, fixed laced, etc. Thanks again for your input and suggestions.

I love Jon Renau's salted caramel, which I can't really find in any other brand(RW, BT, EW). I am getting Editor's Pick in golden walnut. Is there any color in the city collection that's even close?
@MarlenesWigChatStudio8 ай бұрын
Hi Karen, I love Salted Caramel as well and was actually going to compare it in this video. Salted Caramel is FS26/31S6 so we have a blend of light and dark auburn and a dark brown root. In the City Collection, Caramel Blonde is 30/27/613 + 10. We find the same dark and light auburn but the root is lighter and there's blonde in the blend (613) which creates a much lighter color. Then we have Mocha Maple Brown (6/27) which you may like considering that it's the same color base of dark brown and highlights in light auburn. What you won't get is the high dimension we find on Salted Caramel since we don't have the 30 (darker auburn). xoxo Marlene
@KarenGaylor47128 ай бұрын
@@MarlenesWigChatStudio since RW doesn't have the salted caramel color either, I went with golden walnut. Is the toasted walnut in the lux collection similar? Is there anything in the city collection that is similar to golden walnut?
@MarlenesWigChatStudio8 ай бұрын
Karen, I've never had Golden Walnut but I looked it up and the color code is 11/25; the color code on Toasted Walnut in the Lux is 10/25 + 8. If we go by color codes, they should be very close. The first number is the base which is a medium brown and the second which is the same on both are the highlights. The difference will be that Toasted Walnut has a brown root and Golden Walnut doesn't. Since 10 & 11 are next to each other, the base should be pretty close; if there's a slight difference, it'd be Golden Walnut being slightly lighter but shouldn't be by much. xoxo

Hi Again, Brandi! The biggest difference between Chloe and Calabasas is the cap. Chloe has a hand tied cap, full mono top, and therefore a much higher price point while Calabasas has a left part and weft cap. As for the style, Calabasas is a straight mid-length bob with no layers; Chloe isn't really a bob but rather has some layering throughout. I can't remember off hand what the measurements are on each, but I believe the length wise they're about the same. The style are completely different. I hope this helps. xoxo Marlene
