Its really how you look at it, for me this was an awesome day with action, excitement, a learning experience, good times, good friend, and good memories.

At least you folks were safe and had some action 🤙🏽 I’ve lost quite a few. Next time bump the speed up just a little when it gets closer to leadering the fish. Especially marlin. It’ll help the fish go with the momentum of the boat and force it to go with it instead of swim away. That’s if it’s tired enough! 😂 Go get the next one 🤙🏽

Bad luck. Sometimes I think it’s best to go hard early on drag and leader and find out how well they are hooked, best to lose it sooner than after a few hours in my books ;) we fought one for 5hrs once, never again ;) good times and great memories for you two!

Been there and done that, and long fights can be fun, especially with lots of meat at the end, but not when you return with no meat, a good fish story and a hefty fuel bill ;) I believe in Hawaii you can use a pistol on big fish, that could also have helped when you get to the leader, abit more “reach” than the bang stick :)
