I love this low light performance. I played it on three big Samsung 4K monitors, the shadow got noisy, but that becomes very clean when it displays on a smaller size. That is the amazing of 6K!
@MarloweHolt5 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately most of the artifacts in the shadows is from h264 encoding and KZbin compression. The original files did have noise, but it was a very low, and consistent across the entire frame, similar to film grain. There was absolutely no artifacting. I'll see if I can post a download link for evaluation.

Great video, but on second 0:07 there is a problem on the right corner. Looks like the Adjustment layer on you comp or video got moved unintentionally? and we can see the color correction and the video that is coming next. It happens to the best tho, i love the video and music 👍looks like a bad ass camera

The video was rotated slightly because it was shot a bit crooked. I meant to crop in a few percent, unfortunately I didn't and the video underneath in the timeline shows through. It was my first time using davinci resolve and I was a little preoccupied figuring things out. Thanks for the heads up!

Beautiful. It looks much much better than Gh5 in the low light. BTW, was the lens Canon 50mm 1.4 L ?
@MarloweHolt5 жыл бұрын
It's definitely better than the Gh5 and even the Gh5s, which I owned for the last year. I was using a Rokinon 24mm cine ds T1.5 which is like 37mm on this camera.
@soamjena5 жыл бұрын
Marlowe Holt great. I guess I will have to buy the canon 16-35mm f2.8 again.
@MarloweHolt5 жыл бұрын
@@soamjena I'm renting a few options this week and building a new rig. I'll outline all my findings. I'm grabbing the 16-35mm f4 because it has IS, and the bmpcc 6k has an active EF mount. I'm also picking up the Tamron 15-30mm f2.8 which has VC. Should be interesting, it may come down to weight for me. The Tamron is a full pound heavier.

Marlowe Holt why not the 16-35 f2.8 ? It also has the IS

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ video! Have you noticed any difference between 4K/6K low light or is it about the same.
@MarloweHolt5 жыл бұрын
This is the first time I have used a black magic camera, so I don't know. Unfortunately KZbin crushed this video. I uploaded it in 60mbs in 6k and it looks horrible when compared to the original footage. BRAW 12:1 is better than the footage I got from my Sony a7s2 with ninja flame in proreshq. I will say that I'm not a fan of the micro four thirds format. Everyone claims to gain a stop and a wider field of view from speedboosters and focal reducers, however I disagree. I owned a Gh5s for the last year, wide open adapted lenses tend to generate extreme blur and a Halo effect that you simply cannot fix in post. I'd actually say you lose a stop of usability because of the blur. For me the 6k is better simply because of the native EF mount. I can stop down to T1.5 without losing too much quality.
@BlackWarriorLures5 жыл бұрын
@@MarloweHolt Yeah, KZbin always kills the footage.

Hi, the footages looked great! Awesome test shots. I'm just wondering, did you intentionaly did a faded color grade? I'm not really sure if its because of the flare or the tungsten lights bouncing everywhere.
@MarloweHolt5 жыл бұрын
I shot it on the film setting in camera, which comes with brighter and more grey shadows. I believe it has the greatest dynamic range. I didn't do much color correction beyond adding a slight s curve. In some of the clips where the color temperature didn't match what my eye saw (I messed up the WB), I added a very slight amount of CTB. The flares didn't affect too many shots, mostly the dwarves sign. It should be noted this video was shot right before a full moon.
@TVperson15 жыл бұрын
Is there any fixed pattern noise in the background?
@MarloweHolt5 жыл бұрын
Not until iso 6400, at least in BRAW 12-1. It's fairly random and smooth like film grain. It should be very easy to reduce in post. My Sony cameras have a very distinct noise pattern especially in the shadows.
@TVperson15 жыл бұрын

What is the ISO? Choosing the limiting EF mount by BM instead of the MFT mount might be the dealbreaker for me.
@MarloweHolt5 жыл бұрын
The ISO is different for every shot. The maximum ISO was 4000. I wasn't necessarily interested in a scientific test. More of a real world situation test. Both lenses I used are T stop, not F stop, so I don't have exact values because I tried to find a balance between what's in focus, consistent lighting, and noise. Honestly I find the EF mount an asset. I own a wide variety of cameras and lenses from many different systems. For reference I just moved away from MFT on a Panasonic Gh5s, I also own Sony a73 and a7r3. It comes down to personal preference and assignment. As far as a film making tool, this camera can't be beat for the money.

maybe it is a good camera but there something wrong with the sky anyone noticed that ? it could be the color grading flaw ?
@MarloweHolt5 жыл бұрын
You would be correct the colors are odd, also some of the shots are out of order. Las Vegas has incredibly varied colors at sunset because we are in a basin, and they change every 15-30 seconds at this time of day. Which is why I chose to shoot this at Golden hour to show as much variation as possible. There's also a nearly full moon and we are in the desert.
