I love Substance Painter, but perpetual licenses has officially ended recently. I don't intend to ever subscribe and I'll keep using the current version for as long as it is relevant. I hope marmoset toolbag's painting capabilities will catch up quickly...

NO SUBSTANCE PAINTER is still the best and complete software of painting. The "modo" of levels, multi and mixing masks, and all the tools that make photoshot THE POWER , now make SUB the best soft for painting. marmoset have animation , great soft! great render engine, but substance is still the best for paint

I don't know, those painting features feel like it's getting too close to feature creep. Next thing you know they'll be adding modelling and animation tools and basically turning it into a full blown DCC like Maya.

Yeah, gimp 2.99 has a lot of upgrades from the previous version. I tried it myself and reported a lot of bugs as well. Though the non-destructive image editing features are still long away to be implemented in version 3.2 but making videos can help a lot of users to at least report bugs or maybe fix it.

I wanna know if it can now remember the path of the texture maps I loaded for the material. It's really annoying when you can't remember the folder where you saved that texture, and Marmoset doesn't remember it either.

I've watched the tutorials on the new texturing tools for Toolbag 4 and honestly they've literally covered everything you could ever want in a texturing program AND it's seamlessly integrated with Toolbag 4's baking and rendering tools which in my opinion are far superior to SP. Check out Marmoset's playlist the videos are a bit lengthy but they demo and explain everything in good detail. 15% launch discount is still active too.

This is what Marmoset says about it: Q: Does Toolbag’s ray tracing require an RTX card? A: Nope! Toolbag’s ray tracing implementation runs on most all modern Nvidia and AMD graphics cards. Though texture baking and rendering times will be notably faster on RTX cards. Doesn't seem like there's any limitation for what GPUs can support Marmoset. Besides, considering how many 3D artists are now buying AMD cards, it wouldn't make sense to _not_ have AMD WX cards support their brand new software.

what's the difference between keyshot and MARMOSET TOOLBAG

For me I'm pretty sure the rendering of skin/flesh, tried it for years in Keyshot, it often shows seems, Marmoset is like unreal engine except you can't play games in it. Seen many renders of characters with Marmoset from Artsstation, the downside is Marmoset ain't intuitive unlike Keyshot, even with guides Marmoset still gives you a hard time to set everything. I sounded like I prefer one from the other but it's not. Keyshot is easier for me but it's limited and is mostly for product concepts/showcase. Marmoset is better but hard and unintuitive UI, guides are also few and far in between, there are guides but are mostly just how to import meshes, no way of properly pluging textures, coordinates, opacity, etc.

marmoset is for Realtime Rendering Supports PBR rendering.meanwhile Kyeshots Supports Raytracing GPU.marmoset Doenst have Raytracing before but now its Supports.

several reasons for me, performance, and convenience. marmoset has really good performance to the point where i use it a lot to load in sculpts that are 12+ million polygons with dummy materials to preview my mesh in proper lighting, that and its so fast to just set up a scene and get right down to the actual rendering part. its kinda a pain in the ass to make a project in unreal and set up all your materials and stuff. also the baking tools are probably the best in the industry. the only reason i would even consider using unreal is if i need to do some specific shader stuff with unreals node based editor
