Watching this gave me déjà vu after my training as an EMT. Part of my training involved taking “third rides” on a paramedic unit ambulance. We answered a suicide call and picked up an 18 year old woman with paranoid schizophrenia from a local police department and took her to the psych unit at a local hospital. I stuck out my hand and shook her hand and smiled at her and gave her my name and said I was an EMT student. She was very quiet but didn’t hesitate to answer the paramedic’s questions. I proceeded to engage my superiors in a discussion about checking the patient’s blood sugar with a glucometer. They decided against it but it wasn’t lost on my patient that I was being very compassionate, diligent, and professional in taking care of her. I thought it was only fair considering that she’s going to be billed north of $1000 for the ambulance ride. It also wasn’t lost on me that I was subordinate to my patient, as strange as it might sound. On the way to the psych unit she was staring straight at me the entire time. I’ve been told MANY TIMES that being nice to girls will work against you but she was my customer and I was simply trying to do a good job of taking care of her. Unfortunately these patients are frequently abused and neglected and she was very surprised to see something resembling real professionalism from her service provider.

So . . . There needs to be a better disclairmer at the beginning and reinforced a couple times in the video. If you have not already determined her guard is down, then most of the things mentioned here are more likely to land you in jail than her bedroom. Out on a crowded dance floor, all sorts of incidental contact is allowed. When not on the dance floor best to go for the hands or outside of the upper arm first. See how that is received and go from there. Two of the best moves are classics. 1) Gently move her hair behind her ear. 2) A gentle stroke under the chin with just a slight lift. These two work because they are things people do naturally to calm themselves when they are nervous. Anxious is where you want her to be. However, you want her anxious-excited, not anxious-afraid. This calming effect is why women unconsciously play with their hair when they are around someone they are interested in. To be fair, some women will consciously play with their hair to indicate they are interested. As a general rule, start as far away from personal areas and slowly move toward the more personal areas. Having said that, it is something I have only used once or twice because I tend to build the anticipation mentally beforehand. That is, I get her thinking about having sex and wanting to have sex prior to touching her. Because of that, having crossed a half century, I have yet to meet a woman who wants sex that can't go from zero to naked in under 5 seconds. If she wants you, she will rip her own clothes off. It's expectation. Women who are younger receive a LOT more male attention. To not seem 'boring' to them they expect non-stop attention and entertainment from you; more so if they don't actually like you a lot to begin with. Many younger women will go out on dates with no intentions of forming any kind of real connection at all- it's just something for them to do, often a free dinner. The irony is the more free attention you give them, the more desperate for their approval you seem which baits you into a negative spiral of them disqualifying you as a serious option. Older women by contrast receive less male attention and value your attention more as a direct consequence. They are eager to spend time on you because their time is less valuable to them. It's a harsh dose of reality to swallow- when she's 20 you could be competing with a pro athlete for her time, while at 40 you might only be competing against what's on Netflix that night.

A lot of the examples about how to initiate these kinds of touch are in ways that don't involve a lot of consent, in my view. (I want to emphasize consent doesn't just apply to sexual things.) By touching the other person at times that make it seem like part of a story you're telling or to get their attention is actually really weird, and no one does that if they're being non-invasive. Please make sure they agree in some way, either by them reaching back, or even better, by verbal agreement. There are many ways to do this, and consent is the most important part. Edit: Also, the 3-second rule is really unnecessary.

I understand you POV with consent though I disagree to a large degree with how you’re thinking about it. Consent naturally becomes apparent when you are socially aware of situations with women and gradually build arousal. You just need to gain experience. This women has clearly stated that certain physical escalations require certain levels of comfort with women. You start small, by touching her shoulders, then you can gently grab her hand and upper back when leading her to another area when you know she’s comfortable with you, and once the flirting starts you can gradually try other things. It’s step by step. You just need to have social awareness and intelligence and understand arousal. And the three second rule is a good measure to use in the beginning stages of getting to know a girl. It prevents you from being too physical too early and making the girl uncomfortable and going into a defensive mode.

One thing I'm not saying is that trying to get closer gradually is a bad thing. What I am saying is that you can't just assume someone is fine with what you're doing without any cue that they are. And the three second rule does serve the purpose of making it a bit more casual, but it can also make consent more difficult because it's harder to bring up a problem with a short touch vs a long one. Gradually making moves on a woman like you mentioned is also the way to create a toxic situation without being called out on it. Just because it's happening gradually doesn't mean it's all right. Which is where consent comes in. What are your thoughts on the importance of consent? Do you think it's important to get consent?
