Wooow I'm from the Ashanti tribe in Ghana..... I know most of the herbs he talked about...and funny how we call them same names....Bese for cola nut (we eat them)... Dokono the food cooked in the wild plantain leaves....the flat nut,.. we have them as well.

I think a lot of Africans from that tribe came to Jamaica so they were quite influential.

The tour guide is world class, and seems to love his job. I thought some of the girls were a bit rude laughing and not paying attention to the education. Will make sure I take this tour one day.

Also in the Twi(Chwi) language of the Akan, we say " me se " meaning "I say"and I hear the Jamaicans say " "me sey"

In Ghana in West África, bese is also the local name for kolanut. I'm not surprised at all because Of the history of Jamaica.

@@Rochielin I agree. I just found your channel Rochielin, and I've been binge watching your videos every chance I get. I'm thoroughly enjoying them. The only videos I found surprising and chose not to watch were the ones titled "Jamaica Carnival 2019." We used to have a yearly Caribbean carnival where I live, but as it became less "family friendly," many of us who have children and those who just didn't want to see all the simulated sex and nudity, stopped attending as spectators, and the Carnivals eventually ended. You have a joyful and positive spirit, and it's a pleasure to watch your new content.

In Guyana that cabbage is called ;manacle' cabbage which might be of Indigenous origin, but its also known on the international cuisine circuit as 'heart of palm' and is also considered a delicacy

I truly enjoyed watching the video. It's a short course in JAMAICAN History... I went to school, and learned about Christopher Columbus, but nothing's about the Maroons.. This is as refreshing as the water pouring down Nanny Falls.

Great presentation Beautiful Sister! Very inspirational and informative... Three places in history where Maroon Societies existed: Jamaica, Suriname, and Haiti. Warrriors that took charge, created a secret society, and fought hard to eliminate oppression and instituted slavery.

That is such a beautiful place. The Akans of Ghana make what you call Blue drawers and call it the same name -Dorkono. Also the Akan name for Cola nut is Bese, exactly what you call it in Jamaica.
