I was married 29 years. It was very rough but when you’re afraid of your husband and he’s into a sin of the flesh, I divorced. I wish everyday I was married as I never wanted to divorce. I am healthier and happier though and I worked on it with my whole heart for many years. Guess it wasn’t meant to be. God guided me and He daily helps me.

I also was in the same situation. I did everything possible to stay but, it was an unsafe situation.

Separation is allowed. Remarriage is not. There’s a huge difference between separating and starting another relationship

My wife and I will celebrate 27 years of marriage tomorrow 25th May. Someone gave me a piece of advice on how to work through the up's and down's and challenges of marriage and he said "Let God be the source of love in your marriage." Someone else told me that a good marriage is compromised of two "good forgivers".

Jesus Also Said Not Everyone Could Marry: Not Everyone Could Accept This Word: Matthew -19:11-21 - Not Everyone is Mature Enough to Live a Married Life: It Requires a Certain Aptitude and Grace Marriage Isn't for Everyone. Some from Birth Seemingly never give Marriage a thought. Others never get Asked or Accepted. And Some Decide Not to Get Married for Kingdom Reasons. But if you're Capable of Growing into the Largeness of Marriage Do It. Thank You Rev. Mike O'Connor & God Bless! ⛪

Thank God for 55 years but my heart aches for you and your spouse and the 2 children that you have lost. I’m not married or have kids but I can’t even imagine the grief that you have experienced. Yet still you and your spouse have stayed together when such tragedies would have driven people apart. “Together or for worse” I believe are those marriage vows. May God continue to bless your marriage and your family in Jesus mighty name, Amen 🙏🏾

1 Timothy 4:1 KJV "Now the SPIRIT speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which GOD has created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth."

Thank you for saying "it IS possible to stay married." Folks really don't know this. And thank you for saying "you're not free to remarry if you're divorced." Folks don't know this either. We (Christians) need to better communicate these things to school-age young folks. So they know it later.

Thank you Fr. Mike, for preaching about the vocation of marriage. I would love to hear your give a Sunday sermon (or one of your podcasts) of the vocation of the priesthood. I don't know how it is around the word but the US priests infrequently talk about the priesthood. Why is that ? Bob in Grand Rapids, MI

Yes Father, marriage is possible. But how difficult it is if a person is sort of "broken" in some way. . Im saying it with sadness, because even in my family of origin there are many divorces .God bless Father.

Father Mike, marriage is possible... even after 52 years and some difficult times. We tell this to youngsters all the time. It's kind of funny how things work out. You see, there are times I wish I would have been a priest.

Not everyone is made for marriage. Not everyone can handle being chaste. Takes discipline and lots of self denial. I feel for that couple who’s getting divorced. Perhaps her Baptist husband wasn’t putting up with her converting to Catholicism and the relationship went south. But she is concerned about her salvation and as she should be. Many go into marriage and find out later on that the person they are with wasn’t the one they met and want out. Many do it to satisfy their sexual appetite. Or to combine their salaries. Whatever the reason, if the reason wasn’t because either cared about each other and desired the best not for their self but for their partner built upon Jesus Christ then it won’t work out.
