Hi! Just to let you know the smaller singer was NOT singing falsetto, he was rare counter tenor! His name was Bobby Hatfield! He passed in 2003. The taller singer is called Bill Medley and is still alive and singing in his eighties! Peace and Blessings to you and yours.

Great choice. Do more of the Righteous Brothers. Their not really brothers. People named their music " Blue eye Soul " Because they got Blue eyes and they sing with a lot of soul. Check out " Soul & Inspiration " and " Un- Chained Melody " you'll love it. They are live with no auto-tune or gimmicks. pure voice.

Bill Medley (left) & Bobby Hatfield had a string of hit records, including "Soul & Inspiration", & "Unchained Melody". There's a video on y/t of them singing "You'll Never Walk Alone" that's jaw-dropping. Back in the day it was called "Blue-eyed soul". Rest in peace Bobby Hatfield.

The term "blue-eyed soul" was created for them. They aren't related. They got their name when playing at a military base and some black Marines shouted out "you sound righteous, brother!" They liked that so the name stuck. If you liked this one, please react to Soul and Inspiration - it was written by the same writers as a follow-up to the success of this song and peaked at #1 for three straight weeks in 1966.

Many TV shows of that time only used boom mics that dangled 5-6 feet above the singers. They could really belt it out. Many live venues didn't even have microphones until later.

Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield singing radios most requested and played song of the 20th century, topping even the Beatles. Bobby, the shorter one with the high voice, does a live solo of "Unchained Melody" on the Andy Williams show from 1965. You have GOT to listen to that. Bobby's recording of that song was later used as the background music for a love scene in the 1990 movie "Ghost." The public reaction to the song was so great that the album was released. It earned a pile of platinum records, one for every COUNTRY where more than a million copies were sold.

Bro, I saw her shocked face when Bobby started singing, and I was like "JUST HOLD ON!". One of the best songs ever. If men still sang this way to women, we'd have a better world. Bill Medley stays kind of restrained in the verse, then he gets to the "Baby" and really let's loose. And Bobby is just waiting to drop the fire. Ray Charles is amazing, and doesn't get enough love in reactions. Songs like "I Believe In My Soul" you can just feel the ache.

Blue eyed soul is the genre. They were dubbed this by a black radio station DJ from Baltimore who called them his blue eyed soul brothers. It caught on and became a genre soon after. Bobby and Bill grew up on rhythm and blues. They loved Little Richard , Ray Charles and BB King and also others but those being the most influencial n their music life. They started out with the blues. They could sing anything together or individually. You need to check out the following songs. Songs together live performances Soul and Inspiration You'll Never Walk Alone Just once in my life Little Latin Lupe Lu Justine Solos by Bobby Hatfield "Unchained Melody" live performance on the Andy Williams show. "Summertime" live performance 1965. Bill Medley solos "Ol Man River" live performance 1965 Brown eyed woman There are alot of excellent songs of theirs but here are some you really need to see. Here are some that only are audio B-Flat Blues Ebb Tide Enjoy. I enjoy most of these daily.
