I'm a former hospital nurse of 34 years and people who work in fields like healthcare and law enforcement tend to have a morbid sense of humor. Probably due to some of the terible things we have to witness. I haven't worked in almost ten years and I still have nightmares about working at the hospital and some of the horrible stuff I saw.

Guys, just wanna say, really enjoy your BB reactions. Regarding your question, that can't really be answered without spoilers. But in general, Breaking Bad takes it's time when it needs to, for stuff like character development, setting up for new plot lines etc. They don't rush the story. But they are never slow, there is no stretching out, no filler stuff. And the story keeps spinning on and one, there is a lot of continuity, everything builds up upon what happened.

People keep talking about Jesse dying in S1. The writers knew by the second or third episode that they weren't going to do that. Vince Gilligan says so in one of the episode commentaries, which are great and worth listening to. It had nothing to do with the writer's strike. In case no one mentioned, breathing into a person's mouth during cpr can worsen an airway obstruction or force fluid into their lungs if they have fluid in their throat. I think there's something about a risk of overinflating the lungs, but I might be wrong. Chest compressions are the important part of CPR.

A lot of people watch a series like it’s a movie where the ending has already been written and filmed but most of the time they’re writing one episode/season at a time. Especially on this show,once it was over we heard how much the story evolved and changed as they were making it. There must be so much more freedom for writers to do it like that

@anantayanamandra349110 ай бұрын
The show is so tightly written because the writing team generally only planned a season at a time without a broader story, and they enjoyed writing themselves into corners and trying to find their way out. Beyond that it comes down to the talent of the writing team and a vision for the story that Vince Gilligan summarized as "the story of a man turning from Mr. Chips into Scarface." Vince had that vision for a show years before he ever approached Sony about making it. I think it's just the perfect union of a team that has a solid vision, the talent to act it out, and the talent to film/edit the story with minimal outside interference. The show was broadcast on AMC but it was funded by Sony and Vince basically had the final say on everything. I think that talent also shows in their ability to adapt to changing circumstances. The strike gave them the ability to use Jesse and Hank, both of whom were on the block to die at the end of Season 1. They are able to handle actors leaving the show, actors having difficult schedules, and adding new characters that only become better over time because they write to the actors' strengths. And while all of that is interesting backstory, you wouldn't assume any of it from the way the show plays out. It feels seamless.

What's even more incredible to me, is how well they tied everything in with Better Call Saul. Nacho and Lalo for example. That was just a throw away line for comedic effect, and they created two iconic characters out of it. Or Mike. We know he wasn't even an intentional character, and was only written in when Bob couldn't make the filming. But then he's a major character in both shows. Just amazing work from the entire crew and staff.

Bryan Cranston directed this episode and had trouble with the scene when he kinda attacks Skyler. He justified it as Walt having PTSD and needing affection and he went too far. Color plays a huge part in the show! Everything Marie owns is purple. But each season has a color. I think of S2 as blue (wait for a few more episodes), S3 is green coded. S4 is red. The last two seasons (S5 Part 1 and Season 5 Part 2) is kinda beige and muted. That's how I saw it.

@@nerdymarriedcouple On top of the transmission of disease, etc, I think I read somewhere that the chest compression should take precedence becuase stopping to do mouth-to-mouth would interrupt the manual blood pumping. But I don't know.
@creaturecore1310 ай бұрын
@@bsjett the reality is the amount of oxygen still in an adult can last a while which is why pumping is more important. I dont remember the exact time, but for an adult you have a few minutes where pumps alone are just as effective as using breathes. But cpr teachers will tell you that they still want you to breathe into the persons mouth if the goal is to allow for the highest success rate as after a certain point you will need breathes. Its supposed to be 2 breathes for every 30 compressions.

Since you mentioned it in this video the plan for the end of SE1 was to see both Jesse and Hank killed, Eric & Kailyn. But because of the writers strikes Vince Gilligan, creator of "Breaking Bad" had time to rethink the direction of the series and end up going another way with the story.

I knew about Jesse, didn't knew about the plans with Hank. I always find it interesting - and amazing - that writers (good writers that is) are able to drop ideas that will completely alter everything that would had happened afterwards, and come up with new stuff more or less "on the fly". Sure, there are long timespans between seasons to write and rewrite stuff, still I thought there is a broad idea with the most important milestones for the whole show already lined out when you start with a show.

Modern CPR is chest compressions, chest compressions, chest compressions. Breathing into the mouth is outdated. Stopping the chest compressions to breath into them is seen as wasting time. You just pump their heart as long as you can.

Thank god we got the story we did, because Vince talked on a podcast about what was going to happen originally had they killed off Jesse as intended. Highly recommend finding and listening to that. Short version (spoilers): Walt becomes Jigsaw, ties up and tortures the dealer who kills Jesse. Walt Jr finds the torture room, dealer kills Walt Jr and himself using Walt's shotgun tripwire contraption. I'm not even joking.
