the show does such a good job portraying Chuck's distress in that uncomfortable hospital scene. it's horrifically painful to watch, to imagine the pain he's in. it cuts the music and theatrics and just shows you his pure distress as he sees it. it's so real.

Action, reaction, action, reaction...etc, excellent. I love how this show doesn't need to rely on soap opera level melodrama to really ratchet up the tension. With a simple reveal of that tape recorder we're all setup for season 3. Excellent reactions again and looking forward to the next one!

As far as Mike in the military. The gun guy says, "apparently you're familiar with this one", I think when he was looking for a gun to kill Tuco. He says that to him and then they talk about that gun being used in Vietnam, but the gun guy says it now has a fiberglass or plastic stock, when it used to have a wooden one. Which then Mike says, "the wooden ones used to warp like h***". So, I took it as he was in Vietnam. He definitely had experience with that type of military rifle.

So excited for you guys to start 3rd season. Many people (and I agree) say that the 3rd season is the point where BCS reaches a point of greatness that makes it stand right next to Breaking Bad, as an excellent TV Show that works perfectly on its own, and not just as a BB Spin-off.

8:30 I thought it was really fascinating how Jimmy refuses to commit Chuck. On the one hand he is acting according to Chuck's wishes, on the other he is acting AGAINST Chuck's best long term interest and wellbeing. They are so much opposites in this, where Chuck typically tries to act in Jimmy's long term interest and wellbeing, even if it goes against Jimmy's wishes and short term goals.

@ForcesInMotionАй бұрын
That's a very interesting observation/thought. I've watched this series many times and have never considered that. And now that you've brought up the possibility, I've thought on it and no... No way. Not a chance Chuck withheld that info to protect Jimmy (not that you're saying he might've...). Excellent comment, The Republican :)
@TheRepublican777Ай бұрын
@@ForcesInMotion well I have not seen the all the seasons yet but even by the very end of this episode it does seem clear that he is not very caring about his brother Jimmy so maybe he didn't tell him that her last words was asking for him because he doesn't want to give Jimmy the satisfaction of knowing that she asked for him as if she loved him more or something, now that i see he seems to be out to get Jimmy i think you are right he wasn't trying to protect him he was trying to make sure he didn't get satisfaction maybe? I don't know where they are going with these other characters yet and them being brothers I thought maybe even though there is jealousy and competition between them I thought maybe they cared about each other but maybe it's only one-sided. I guess I commented too soon before the episode was over lol
@ForcesInMotionАй бұрын
@@TheRepublican777 I generally assume folks watching these reactions have seen the full series, but looks like you haven't. Jealous of you having more to look forward to for the first time. Enjoy. As to Jimmy & Chuck's relationship... It's complicated. As basically all familial relationships are. Some more than others, and Jimmy & Chuck's is way, way, way on the "more" side LOL. Some might say their relationship is the cornerstone of the entire series; and I would be one of them. Rock on...
@HonkHonklerАй бұрын
And yes good observation. I don't think Chuck HATES Jimmy, he RESENTS him. Sounds similar, but it's not. But correct on VERY much dislikes Jimmy. And yes Jimmy does love his brother, but he hates how Chuck tries to shackle WHO he is, which IS Slip'n Jimmy, but Slip'n Jimmy DOES eventually turn into Saul Goodman. Helping criminals skirt the law. So again, Chuck WANTS to love Jimmy, but yeah the history of resentment he has for him you nailed.
@pencil6965Ай бұрын
Definitely I also think there’s a difference between resentment and jealousy. Most ppl cite jealousy as chucks issue but he doesn’t really want anything that Jimmy has just resents him for getting ahead while doing less
@FrankyRZKАй бұрын
The opening scene really lays everything on the table. Jimmy is always the sloppy brother, steals from his own dad, goes to prison, scams people, is a shady lawyer while Chuck is always playing by the rules, helped Jimmy straighten up after the Chicago sunroof incident, gave him a job and so on. And yet Jimmy is always the people's favorite, even their own mother ignores Chuck while calling for Jimmy in her last moments. You can very well see why Chuck would absolutely resent his own brother and get sick when he sees him succeed by doing shady stuff.
@yersiniapestis5237Ай бұрын

@marksummers666Ай бұрын
Funny you should mention Kim's ponytail...no spoilers, but when and how tight Kim has her hair up was a deliberate choice by the creators.
@ElectricFury7 күн бұрын
You mention how Jimmy's redeeming quality is that he actually loves Chuck unlike the other way around and it reminds me of what Mike told Danny after his drug deal with Nacho when he denyed being a criminal: "I've known good criminals and bad cops. Bad priests, honourable thieves... you can be on one side of the law or the other" [...] "You're a criminal. Good one, bad one... that's up to you". I see the McGill brothers as a duality of moral actions vs character. Jimmy is a good person who does bad things. Chuck is a bad person who does good things. Jimmy does everything he does out of love for Chuck, for Kim, for the 'little guy' clients he has who get shit on by people in higher power, just like how he sees himself. But the actions he takes to do so are shortcuts, schemes, scams and are staight up illegal a lot of the time. Chuck does everything he does out of hatred. Nothing in the show motivates Chuck to overcome his illness except when it's to strike Jimmy down. He used Jimmy's phone to call Howard to stop him hiring Jimmy. He made effort to come into the office to be in Jimmy's sandpiper meetings and scutinize his methods of client outreach. He went completely out of his way to come in to meet Kevin of Mesa Verde with all the lights and power on in the room, just to snipe them back from Kim, which he only cared to do after Howard told him that she and Jimmy would be sharing expenses. Everything he does is legal, and by the books, but it's always to get a malicious outcome.
@DrGrammarPCАй бұрын
Most people root for Jimmy as he is the main character and think he is a good brother just because he brings Chuck groceries and tends to his regular needs. Jimmy knows very well that Chuck is suffering from a serious mental condition. But rather than getting him the help he truly needs, all Jimmy does is constantly enable him. Very sad.

Jimmy and Chuck are correct about each other's worse personality traits. Jimmy is trouble and Chuck is vindictive. Each other's worse traits rampaging each other up. The more Jimmy as like Slip'n Jimmy, the more Chuck resents it/tries to stop him (especially with law), the more Jimmy hates that Chuck tries to shackle him to slips even harder, making Chuck MORE vindictive and determined to stop Jimmy etc.

Chuck should think himself lucky he doesn't have a brother like me. My brother did something bad to me and I kicked the ever living shit out of him... on the day of our mothers' funeral. He had driven a wedge between me and her.
@HonkHonklerАй бұрын
Just so it's clear on the relationship between Chuck and Jimmy, BOTH are correct and wrong about each other. So two brothers DESPRATELY trying to love each other, but just end up resenting each other because they are opposite sides of the same coin. Jimmy does want to be a normal lawyer, but to do that he has to be confined from who he actually is, Slip'n Jimmy. Now Slip'n Jimmy is not the worse human ever, I love Walter White, but we can agree Heisenberg is much worse than Slip'n Jimmy. But Slip'n Jimmy with a law degree IS like a chimp with a machine gun. It's harsh, but it's true. Wrong time for Chuck to throw that at Jimmy and for the wrong reason, but objectively correct observation from Chuck. At the same time though, Jimmy IS actually trying to change is life and wants to be a lawyer for senior citizens, but also wants/needs money and wants to keep Kim. Like Walter, he's a complex character who's does the things he does for various reasons that are not openly expressed to the audience. Which is go, that's how you do _Show Don't Tell._
@MrCzerilloАй бұрын
The ONLY thing I hold against Chuck is not telling Jimmy about his mother's last words. Otherwise he is right about everything. If you think Jimmy is not out for just himself, you haven't been paying attention. Anybody he has helped is only because it also benefits him. Except for his brother. Also, it is not a lawyer show. It is a criminal show. You know who Jimmy is.

Pretty sure Vince has decided to let the ABQ universe lie now. After 11 seasons and a movie, he says he wants to tell other stories. Are you kidding? Jimmy went to a "measly little college" and "got to pass the bar"?? He was working Full Time in the mail room, and with no help and in secret he got his law degree, and took the bar 3 times and passed. That's no joke. You have taken your hate watching of Walt and have transferred it to Jimmy/Saul in BCS. Sorry but if Walt took Elliot's offer he'd be dead in 2 years with Zero drama. If Chuck either left Jimmy in prison or kept him in the mail room, likewise no story. There would be No Top Two television series of all time if all the Walt and Saul haters got their way.
