The reason Eric is confused throughout most of this episode is because he talks over crucial bits of dialog and turns away from the episode while talking, so he's both missing the dialog and the visual (whereas Kailyn never looks away). It makes complete sense why he was dumbfounded through this episode. What doesn't make sense is his confidence, especially when it comes to Chuck and it not being Tuco. He practically laughs in Kailyn's face when she (accurately) suggests Tuco.

Small clarification, Random people werent giving Slippin Jimmy money. Jimmy would slip on ice at a store then threaten legal action against the store for not making their locations safe. most stores (especially large retailers) dont want a big legal battle and some states do make stores have a legal obligation to make their stores safe if they are open to the public. its why so many stores put salt on their parking lots and sidewalks.

I think this show does a very good job of showing things without just using dialogue. For example, the scene with the trash can does so much with like two quick lines. You saw the dent in the trash can earlier, so you know he's done this kind of thing before, at this exact place. And Kim lets him just stand there and take a drag from her cig, so you know there is some complex relationship there, because she also doesn't flinch through any of it, then just goes and fixes the trash can. I think they just kept getting better with writing and this show is even better than Breaking Bad.

I have always thought maybe the writers could've confused viewers much less in the first episode just by having Howard say a single line like "Listen Jimmy, you may be Chuck's brother and you may be helping him with his medical condition, but that doesn't mean you can speak on his behalf!" That way it would've set up and explained the basic premise in a natural sounding way. It's not important of course because everybody figures it out within a few episodes anyway, but I just think about it every time lmao
@jmiyagi123452 ай бұрын
It didn't seem confusing to me. As usual, _bright spark Kailyn called it --_ makes up for her not recognising Mike's voice near the beginning, I suppose. Eric certainly recognised it. As I said early on in your viewing of 'Breaking Bad' [BB], Eric might want to stop trying to guess all the time. At the very least it will mean he won't need to keep saying 'I don't know', or 'I don't understand' straight after each one. Also, the script of 'Better Call Saul' is far nore complex than it was for BB, so you two might need to listen a bit more carefully than you did back then, when you kept missing salient details (indeed, as I pointed out once or twice). It will be interesting to see how many more times Kailyn manages to call things out. Are you psychic or just mega-intelligent, Kailyn? Given your track record from BB, my money is on the latter.

It's no spoiler to say the show leads up to breaking bad (as it is a prequel) so you know where it ends. The interesting thing is how it gets there. The one thing that struck me most in the show from the cinematography aspect is the car scenes. No obvious stunt doubles switches bad angles that hide their face or green screens. In every other show it's stupidly obvious where the cuts are or the doubles are but not here. Truly spectacular work. Also artistic cinematography really takes off in later seasons
