Actually, I think that the credit card thing was a very bad move, you can see the other guy pull away at that point. Gay men don't like being treated like a woman in a traditional straight relationship and after he dropped the marriage into the conversation and then followed it with this move I knew that that guy was out of there. He needs to learn that gay couples have a different dynamic and " let me pay for that", and "let me get the door for you" are not sentences someone in a gay couple wants to hear.

It's clear by the way they look and dress that they aren't compatible. Which is incredibly shallow but its also true. We can lie and say that personality wins over looks but when you first meet someone, the first thing you see is their looks. If the attraction is there then the personality can be make or break. If its not, a personality can only do so much because everyone deserves to be with someone who they are attracted to.

Ah, the poor newbie has a lot to learn about the gay community! This is one of the most common stunts gay guys pull. He has no idea that he was just played. I really wish I had seen this when it was first posted because I have some really good advice. Read on. Considering he asked the guy what he thought before turning him down, this is the type of guy who’s looking for an ego boost by turning a guy down and to satisfy his narcissism and sadism by watching the guy get upset over it. The worst thing you can do with a guy like this is beg like this guy essentially did by asking if that spark was worth a second or third date, further inflating his ego and satisfying his sadistic needs of getting someone upset. He probably knew he was going to turn the guy down before he met him. Except for the married part, this exact same situation happened to me several times with guys who weren’t at all considered particularly attractive, and I had the upper hand in appearance. I called one of those out when he did it. Years later, he was still using the apps. Had another date with this boney old man that bragged about getting all these 20-year-old guys before he told me he wasn’t interested. So, I questioned why are you on a date with me? It made no sense. Another one of those had just lost his job. He called himself “Edd” with two “d”’s……loser!……and talk about a small world, I knew of him from foot fetish circles when he previously lived in DC the same time I did and met him again when we both happened to move back to the Midwest. He used to stare at guys with a “I just look but don’t approach” stare. He had this sort of “cat & mouse” thing going on, and no one ever went up to him. Anyhow, let my guard down and got burnt. The lesson here is this: If a guy pulls this stunt and asks you if the date went well for you before he tells you anything, say it didn’t, leave, take solace in that you got his goat and didn’t fall for his trap, and move on with your life. You can also take solace in that these type of guys will never find a meaningful relationship with substance and will be lonely when their looks run out, if they had them to begin with, and they get old. (BTW, that “we’re better off as friends” crap is BS. He’ll never see this guy again unless he runs into him at a club.)

I pretty much echo the same opinions as everyone else, he shouldn't of let the guy go first, because for one it is incredibly mean and nasty. But in one way, it automatically shows what that guy is like as a person, he didn't need somebody like that. Whoever he finds, they will appreciate him more than he did. I know certain people can be edited in certain ways on television, as I said, what the guy did was mean and he should of said it first to save him humiliation and to be a bit more tactful, rather than, "There was no spark, we are better off as friends." It would of been better if he said, "Look, I like you as a friend, but whoever you find in life, you are a great guy, very talkative and such an interesting life story and character, it may not work out for us in that way, but whoever you find I hope they treat you in the way that you deserve." Bless his heart, there is someone out there for everyone. It will come when you least expect it. As for the other guy...A true gentleman would have insisted on going first and spared him the humiliation of the dreaded no.. Mr Beard..self obsessed, egotistical and totally an ugly person, why would anyone want to date such a man??..Straight or gay! Love is a many splendid thing...

Poor guy. There are nice guys out there. He'll find someone that loves him. As the saying goes, you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince.
