Nurse practitioners have a masters degree in nursing or in some cases a nursing doctorate degree (DNP). Nurse practitioners are considered mid-level providers. Depending on the state, they might have to work under direct supervision of a doctor. Medical doctors are different since they went to medical school for their MD or DO degrees and have more clinical training and hours. RNs have bachelors degrees and do not have the same license privileges as a NP and of course a doctor. I’ve worked with both NPs and doctors and they’re great; just be aware of the differences.

Hey sis as always you are giving me everything!!! Love your style and class! Your question regarding Nurse Practitioner being a Doctor? The proper all inclusive terminology is Medical Provider. The education is as follows in my state - Doctor (MD, DO) Physician Assistant Nurse Practitioner All require advanced education with prescriber privileges, though with some restrictions, and usually is covered under a Doctor. An RN alone is considered support staff and work in a subordinate position to prescribers. Much love. There’s more but basically that’s the jist.

Hey beautiful Sis, I loved the looks. just to clarify with regards to providers I think you’re confusing PA (Physician Assistant) with NP. We are trained like doctors but operate independently in every medical sub-speciality whereas NP are trained with a nursing model and scope of practice is limited. Yes, I will be rocking the black midi dress as this girl (Urological PA) is extremely fashionable while seeing patients😊

Your skin is beautiful! Love all the looks especially the black ones, black is my go to. I wear a lot of white in the Summer, I’m not ready to put it away. 😏 Sis I’m a Group Practice Manager, GPM. A Nurse Practitioner is a RN with masters or doctoral degree in nursing. Often people call them doctors but that’s a bit disrespectful to physicians. NPs and PA Physician Assistants are mid-level providers. You can address DNPs, Doctor of Nursing Practice as Doctor, although some establishments frown on it. The key take away is that NPs and DNPs are licensed as advanced practice registered nurses, unlike physicians they have not attended medical school or residency. Some states allow NPs to practice independently. I have a mix of physicians, PAs, DNPs and NPs and they are all respected and knowledgeable but I must have a physician in the clinic or available at all times.

I think it’s also disrespectful to just call them nurses as well. I did some research because I was also interested and they are MORE than just a nurse. My primary care provider is a nurse practitioner and she broke it down for me. Sis definitely is more than just a nurse.

@@MarrissaBreann Yes they have more skills, training and credentials than a registered nurse. They will tell you they are RNs first. We celebrate them nurses week and Nurse Practitioner Day. They are well respected and much needed in healthcare especially with the shortage of physicians. All mid-levels are mister or ms.

All these outfits are great for work. I really love the black t shirt with the skirt as a more casual but still classy look. Btw Nurse practitioners are definitely not doctors or trained in the same way doctors are. They have a very different role and scope of practice (I don't mean that in a bad way, but it's really important that people don't think they're seeing a doctor when they're not) ❤️
