I know that it was technically supposed to be a “Comedy Movie” but I tell ya, 11 year old me found this stuff quite scary. It’s odd because I actually enjoyed playing the video game “Destroy all Humans” but that’s probably because in that game the humans were Overexaggerate stereotypes so ya really didn’t feel bad killing them (kinda like Postal 2 if the Postal Dude was an alien), but the humans in this movie seemed a bit more real and serious in comparison.

I was also very young when I saw this movie (barely even 3 to 5 years old) and I was scared too by how the aliens looked and the way the humans became skeletons after getting zapped. Now that I'm much older, I love this movie for what it is.

I was a kid when I saw this movie for the first time. And I will never forget the First Lady death. Hard to watch even nowadays. Glenn Close was perfect, btw. Maybe for this reason, she was in Air Force 1 (1997) as Vice President. The characterization is very similar.

The Martians never had any intention to be peaceful in this movie, they came to Earth to conquer it. They took the dove as a sign of the humans not surrendering to them peacefully, so they started the hostilities. They laugh later when the president offers them peace.

The joke of the whole film is that the Martians look hostile and untrustworthy at first sight and that first impression is 100% accurate but the experts insist that they are advanced and therefore must be peaceful and that Earth is to blame. It's a homage to a lot of Cold War era science fiction like The Thing from Another World where the egghead scientist tried to negotiate with a vampire-carrot man with predictable results.

The first Final Destination movie had well over 290 killed in it. You had 287 people killed in the Plane explosion, then the survivors started dying off, one by one. Tod died, then Carter's girlfriend, Terry was hit by a Shuttlebus, and killed. Then Ms. Lewton was killed, then Billy Hitchcock killed. Alex and Clear survived, though...at least, through that movie. Alex was revealed to have been killed by a falling brick in Final Destination 2, and before that movie ends, his girlfriend, Clear Rivers, is killed by an explosion... inside a Hospital, of all places! But-I digress. In the first Final Destination Movie, I count at least 291 deaths. So there you have it:At least one movie that came somewhat close to having as high of a kill count as Mars Attacks. Mars Attacks proves one other immutable fact:You can have a lot of high-profile movie stars in any movie, but if the storylines are weak, it just might not make a lot of money!
