The best part about this song is that it starts out to menacing, almost creepy. Then it gets slowly louder but not to much, then the crescendos come in, then the build up, Mf, then F, then FF, then FFF, then the climax, THIS IS WAR! SOUND THE ALARMS!!! THE GOD OF WAR IS HERE!!!

Yall this is supposed to be used for marching and pep bands... if it were an actual concert piece it would be a lot more dramatic and closer to the original piece. It's supposed to add drama to a football or basketball game, not necessarily a concert performance.

Jesus The point he was making is that you can’t expect the same exact feeling in a younger band piece as the original because again...they’re YOUNG BAND pieces. If you listened to the original and had a decent understanding of brass and woodwinds, you’d understand that it’s extremely hard in the originals...I have the originals-I would know.

Geez, what's with the wimps in this recording? I can barely hear low brass. When I was in eighth grade, our band played this arrangement, and it wasn't bad, but you could hear the instruments this piece is more focused on; the low instruments. Maybe it has to do with the fact my teacher always told me to quit overpowering two trumpet's sound...Oh well.
@braedenalberstein5128
@braedenalberstein5128 6 жыл бұрын
Nestor Pelayo While yes you are correct about balance, you’re missing the point they were trying to make. Professionals (assumingely) played this and recorded this. Professionals. Holst has Mars written as it is for a purpose. Dark and menacing. The low voices don’t deliver that same feeling as they did in the original recording as they should if they want to make this arrangement sound way better than it does now. Low voices should be heard more than a trumpet if you’re going off the SATB pyramid anyways. The trumpets deliver a good sound and volume when needed but the low voices do not unfortunately.
