I use to have this horrible dream that Olympus Mons and the other three Volcanoes, the ones forming that triangle.. had Giant insects in them!!! It wasn't a volcano, it was a NEST! Terrifying.. finally I would relax rather than panic, and I found that they were incredibly intelligent and very caring.. then they stopped. Ahh the mind of a child.. Maybe mars did have plate tectonics and Olympus mons was a super volcanic eruption that released so much heat that the internal mantle cooled. The solidifying mantle wouldn’t allow for plate movement, and a cool solid interior makes for a poor magnetic field. The eruption would also kill life forms if present. Mons is a smoking gun. Olympus Mons is what the Permian Extinction event could have been.

It doesn't make sense - if the heat was there to create Mons then why didn't it cause plate tectonics to occur? Also why did Mons not erode like it would do because of weather if it was producing a dense atmosphere and water cycle? To me it would appear that the heat that Mars had stopped suddenly - also, isn't Mons one of a sequence of super volcanoes it a line that resembles other shield volcanoes one Earth? Hawaii for example of the Canary Islands off the coast of West Africa? I think we are foolish to assume so much about a planet who's history we can only guess at.

It is 11,034 meters below the sea level... (36,201 feet) deep, which is almost 7 miles. If if you placed Mount Everest at the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the peak would still be 2,133 meters (7,000 feet) below sea level. IN FACT THIS VIDEO IS A BIG LIE... mount Everest kicks this ass of Mars volcanos...If you wanna compare Earth with Mars then do it in the right way and count the meters from the bottom of the oceans ... remember that long time ago Mars was a water world too..

@Project006110 жыл бұрын
Actually, it's so tall that it sticks almost out of mars' atmosphere, so you'd get no atmospheric density and therefore no resistance in the wings.
@DavidGee5110 жыл бұрын
Not only that, but most of it is at a gradient of five degrees, meaning you could walk up it. However, at one edge there are cliffs that run about five miles high. You could jump off those, and with the reduced gravity it would take a long time to reach the ground. Sounds pretty fun if you ask me.
@金M-t4e9 жыл бұрын
+David Gee but then the lack of atmosphere density will allow you to fall faster to the ground
