Mel can even leave and do her own reality show giving viewers a glimpse of her singing career and business activities. There is nothing wrong with them willing to give her a chance and train her. It’s not in stone how a project manager is hired or chosen, like any occupation . It’s up to the employer if they want to hire & train an inexperienced Project Manager. When they interviewed this young lady they must have seen that she has a lot of potential for growth and development. I was a hiring manager for 20 years and hired plenty of applicants who didn’t have experience, but had the motivation & potential to grow & learn. They turned out to be my best employees!

New PMs were setup for success by shadowing first then given their own projects to mange with a director to guide them. They have a project plan to follow. They gained experience and were assigned projects of increasing scope, magnitude and larger budgets. That was Clinical, Technical, Infrastructure and Construction. Everyone starts somewhere but not everyone gets set up for success. And I assure you the last thing you want to hear as a PM is “you never finish a project.”
