Actually, the "MARSHAL DILLON" repeats [the original 1955-'61 half-hour episodes] began in 1961 on CBS' Tuesday night schedule (while new hour-long episodes were presented under its original title on Saturdays). They went into syndication in 1964. A new theme was used for these repeats...........

Pretty sure there were also later ones with different end titles and one having the "Filmed at Paramount Studios" tag.

Back in the 1950’s, to 1970’s , when the original networks (NBC, CBS, ABC) showed reruns of programs during the time they were sill making new episodes, they often put the reruns under a different name and theme (e.g. Marshall Dillon instead of Gunsmoke, Andy Of Mayberry instead of the Andy Griffith Show and Ponderosa instead of Bonanza). These alternate title programs were always shown at a different time than the original prime time broadcasts . After programs we’re on long enough (100+ episodes) to be shown in reruns 5 days a week. This is the real reason (not speculation) from the original broadcast networks (NBC, CBS, NBC).

I would like to know who composed this theme and if it was written specifically for this series or was perhaps a rejected theme for another show.
