Marshal was a friend of mine, and played at my wedding. Oh...the times we had. I used to sit and actually weep when he played.....so beautiful. I too, would LOVE a copy of the entire concert. Rest in peace, Marshal. I miss you terribly.

My neighbor Mr. Royal!!!!! i was 11 years old when he was doing this!!! always practicing. I was like that sax is loud. My neighbor and my grandfathers friend.

Hah! Marshal played at my wedding in 1987! We had Ross Tompkins, Bill Berry, Snooky Young and Frankie Capp. It was a killer band, and we danced the night away... Marshal put together a band almost every year after that for our 4th of July parties, and all their families came. What a party!

Man! Marshal was the greatest! My dad sat me down on my 12th birthday in front of the Basie band at Disneyland, when I just started playing the saxophone and Marshal split me wide open with his playing. We hired the Juggernaut to play our wedding in 1981, and not only was Marshal not there (Colorado Jazz Party get him), Jackie Kelso got lost on his way to the gig and missed most of the first set. And my alto was out in the car . . .

An exceptional lead alto; one of the greatest saxes section when he was in the Basie band, you can hear when he is and when he isn't in the saxes section.

One of my favorites too. I saw the band at CharlisO's last night and asked Frank if there was a video. First he said no, then said wait there was one done in Des Moines and Ernie Andrews was there. He has the tape and I asked him to get it out on dvd, please. charlie

The Capp-Pierce Juggernaut is one of my all time favorite big bands. Thank you so much for posting . Marshall Royal had such a beautiful, soulful sound. Is there any way of getting a full copy of this concert that you have? PLEASE let me know. I have never seen any footage of The Juggernaut ever!
