Had this mg100dfx for over a decade. Love it. Great built in effects. Does clean, blues, rock and metal. The delay and reverb are really solid as he mentions at the start.

Hi Johnny, they're terrific amps and great value considering the amount of effects they have, as you say. It'll save a fortune on aftermarket pedals and the delay is one of the best I've ever heard :-)
@robertailman509211 ай бұрын
Yes, the EFX can be chosen&adjusted via a rotary knob and then the EFX can be mixed into the output via another rotary knob- then you have a separate effects send and return on the back. The audio on this vid is really outstanding to get the presence which this amp achieves. I just got one for an obscenely cheap price and I'm totally obsessed with it's versatility.

Ended up buying this amp for USD200$. Replaced the noisy fan and added a NoiseGate pedal to kill the OD2 noise. My only criticism is that it could use 4 channel footswitch instead of 2. The crunch is so good I'd like to be able to switch between clean/crunch and then another switch for OD1/OD2. Anyone experiment with other footswitches?

I was in my local pawn brokers (NZ) and sat in the corner of the store was this amp with a $20 price tag.the condition of the cabinet and front was 9 out of 10 but the Marshall logo was half missing.When i enquired about it they told me it crackles a lot hence they just want to get rid of it.It came with the foot switch as well BTW.Anyway got it home and sprayed electrical cleaner on the pots but noticed it was not very loud.Before taking it in for a possible repair I checked the speaker connections, spraying and also cleaning the speaker jack. The connection plate attached to the Eminence speaker had become dislodged and was sitting on top of the speaker cone.Quick bit of reattachment and a spot of superglue fixed that.Also fitted a cable holder to the speaker wire to insure it didn't get pulled out again.I haven't quite got to grips with this amp yet but have owned the mdfx 30 and 50 version.The 30 with its 10 inche speaker is a riot in small clubs and pubs and to my ears just as loud as the 50 but with a better voicing.Thanks for this post mate and keep on Rocking!

Bought mine new in 2006 (or about that time, cost me £200. I actually had a REAL Marshall amp). Got it home and I hated it. That fan was crazy loud and it would have clanging spurts for the first few weeks. My mates came over and tried it and we all agreed the distortion sucked on it, but the reverb, delay etc. FX were pretty good and clean was also very good. In most of the internet forums the MG's were hated. If you said you had a Marshall MG you were laughed out of the place. But about a year later went over to watching a band do some practice and the guitarist tone was just awesome. Yep he had a MG 100DFX. I copied down his settings and he was saying what a great amp it was if you knew how to dial in a good tone, and he was so right. I still have it to this day. The fan hardly makes a sound now and it does seem to sound better now than it ever did. This is a loud amp, but it sounds great at low volume too. I once tried an E chord on volume 7. The windows shook and I was deaf for a week.

I found one on ebay dirt cheap that only needs a little fixup before it's giggable, how easy would you say it is to fix the input jack :)
@FoxysGuitarShow3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, Jack. I reckon that if any fix was that easy then current owner would have done it. The difficulty and annoying thing I find with eBay is that people always say "....just needs...." Yeah, well, if it "just" needs and it's so easy, how come you didn't do it? My instinct would be to give it a miss unless you're very electronically based. If it really is just the input socket it would probably be a bit of a faff but inexpensive and relatively straightforward. You pays your money, you makes your choice. Kind regards :-)

Where can I buy a good used one for a good price and pretty fair condition?
@FoxysGuitarShow3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I'm afraid they haven't made these for a while although there are modern equivalents but sadly the new ones are really expensive. That said, you can usually pick these up for anywhere between £100 - £200 depending on condition although if you're looking on eBay, they're usually collection only due to size and weight. I would start by doing a 'nearest first' search on eBay and Reverb. The other thing you could do is write down all the specs you like and see what else fits into your needs. Usually, amps can be bought pretty inexpensively providing you can go and collect them. Kind regards

Hi there, great question. It would depend on one's budget and requirements I suppose. I use a Blackstar ID Core 40 and it's my favourite amp since I had a Vox AC30 back in the seventies. For $200 you have a pretty extensive budget for a practice amp so if you're going to spend that kind of money make sure it does absolutely everything you want it to. However, I did read a post that said it had a Celestion fitted as standard and I know that the appropriate Celestion replacement is a a Celestion G12K-100 so perhaps that's what they're fitted with.
