These demos are not only killer but probably the most raw and real on YT. Awesome stuff bro

that cab sounds so sick. i couldnt find an 8100 that was within a good price range so i got the Master Effects Martyr and i was super impressed. running that into the fx return with a sonic stomp & eq after it and its perfect. definitely a good budget replacement for the anyone looking for a real 8100

@beatenintodust3320 yeah the g12t75s are like bread and butter with Marshall's. The trick I realized to get more thump and less fizz/high end is to take off the casters. Like most cabs with em

I had the Martyr and it didn't sound anything like the 8100 I had at the time sadly. But I get REALLY close with my Amptweaker Tightmetal, older big box version. Highly recommend.

@@Lavabug definitely interested in that now. i will say the martyr did need some eq and the version i have is the newest one they put out so maybe theres some slight tonal differences. gonna look into the amptweaker now though

@@beatenintodust3320 it's more saturated than the 8100. Kind of like a mix of the a scooped 50W EVH and the 8100. The designer claimed he took some inspiration from the ampeg VH140C too but it feels closer to the 8100.

Glad to see you doing justice to these amps, not a fan of the processed mic'd up demo's most people do, these recordings let you hear what the amp sounds in the room.

@TheSpineSplitter1990 thanks dude! Yeah I swear those people do some post processing magic bs. Along with a certain mic that biases it all. This phone mic does it justice mostly just doesn't incorporate thump from cabs

I agree. I swear 90% of KZbin gear review/demo channels are more interested in showing off someone's recording/mixing rather than offer a realistic demonstration of what the home user can expect to hear from the same equipment.

I think I read somewhere that Suffocation only used the 8100 when they were recording Pierced from within, apparently the guys only used the power section of it and ran a fucking Line 6 POD or some shit like that through the FX return lmao. Scott Burns had 8100s in his studio and basically recommended them to every band that decided to record there from like 1993 onwards until he quit.

Pod in the 90's? I don't think so... I chatted with Terrance Hobbs more than 10 years ago and he told me the gear he used for every album until then: first was abviously the Ampeg vh140c, then a valvestate boosted with a korg overdrive (od10 or something like that). Later it was always some kind of Peavey I can't remember.
@Lavabug
@Lavabug 8 күн бұрын
@@lovecraftmusic8717 I thought it was a Zoom Driver 5000 pedal? And after that it was definitely Peavey XXX's, JSX's and 3120's which I think are similar. But he uses 6505+'s now probably cause they're easier to get on tour.

I have that exact year of cab, I been thinking about switching out the T-75's for greenbacks. They sound cool for old school scooped death metal but for my more straight up punk sounds they're a bit too harsh. And I only have one 4x12 right now and multiple amps and only one of my amps likes those speakers and only on certain settings 😂

Sounds really good. Is that just the mic on your camera? Or did you mix in separate mic audio? I guess if it was good enough for Chuck...

I'm a simple guy I just throw my phone upright and it gives it a honest sound. But like many videos state... speakers are more than half the battle.

Of all the classic SS amps I've had this one has to be the most instantly gratifying. Instant Morrisound album tone. Death, Obituary, Disincarnate, it's all there. Brodequin also used these live in the early days, not sure about albums. The pick attack is incredible. If you want the higher wattage version check out the 8200, but the preamp circuit is a bit different.

I had the 8200... I need to maybe give it another chance but it definitely lacked the gain and bite the 8100 but God damn! This is probably the most pack a punch guitar amp for tones. I'd even say the VS100 is good too. The avt was alright
@Lavabug
@Lavabug 4 күн бұрын
@@denialoflife666 yeah the differences in the circuit made me hesitate buying the 8200, I was afraid they'd sound different. Looks like they struck gold with the 8100. The 8080 combo has the exact same schematic as the 8100 except for the transformer/power supply network.

I had one. I think it's a good hybrid of early 90s crate and mid 2000s crate when they sounded almost identical to the ampeg vh 140c. I'd have to say though it's just a blink 182 art and surfer selling point on a gx2200 head. They got real cheesy i had the tidal wave
