Marshall Amplifier
NOTE!! or WARNING!! :) This video is almost 10 minutes long and is really only about my cleaning up the circuit boards and repairing the solder joints. There is very little specific, technically accurate information included, cuz frankly, I have none to share. Hopefully this video provides some assistance little despite all its shortcomings.
The main points to me:
The amp did sound much better after all the work was done.
I am 95+% sure that all of the solder joints that were delectably flawed were addressed.
I have NO idea if there are any bad electrical components; there is/was nothing obvious to me.
The amp obviously does still hum- it actually sounds kinda like an old Randall 1x12 I had long ago; great amp, annoying hum. I'm really not convinced its worth putting more time into it or paying to have it checked out further. It functions and cranks so, yeah, that's enough for me
The amp has some decent rock mojo for a solid state amp and the chorus is very, very lush. The reverb is decent considering the rather small size of the tank.
There are negative comments on the net about the speakers, but, I'm not personally astute enough to detect or appreciate the deficiencies that others might; they sound good enough to me!
