Got the 20 watt I use a keely compressor plus on humbucker mode blend 9oclock, sustain 10 to 11, tone 9 and level at 1 to 2 gives my clean a boost in gain but not distorting gain at 3 on the amp sounds more full of I need less grit I roll back the guitar volume 7 to 8 and pick lite

Yeah man, all day long! Check 8:00 and 9:20. I run it with a little more gain on the amp these days and it sounds better. Recorded it with my cell phone camera.

I'm seriously considering this amp as an alternative to the modelling / FRFR speaker setup I currently have. I mean, my setup sounds great BUT there's just something about a real valve amp that's more organic and seems more 'alive', especially if it's a Marshall.

@@powdermnky007 Any 80s hair metal - I like bands like Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Dokken, Ratt, Tyketto etc. Go for a Ratt or George Lynch type tone maybe! I guess the 80s rock sound requires boosted mids and highs, cut bass as well as some delay and or reverb, maybe even chorus etc.

which one of the 5 jacks is the main 8 ohm jack out? I know it says 1x8 or 2x16 but which one is it, the left one in the very center or the jack next to the 1x16 that the cab is plugging into ?

Great Combo! I had it once but unfortunately decided to sell it because I don't want combos. I like heads+cabinet. The DSL20HR doesn't convince me and the 100HR is way too much! Now I'm running with an Origin 50H + 2x12 1936V... anyway I love also the DSL line... just only thoughts.. 😄🎸

Absolutely. It holds up to the real Marshalls. Jcm800 or Plexi tones without blowing your head off!

How do you think it compares to your egnater tweaker in both cleans and crunch

The egnater was a good high quality sounding amp, but couldnt do the classic Marshall crunch. They both have good sounding cleans... But I'm not super into clean sounds and don't have a fender amp to compare with. The Tweaker did have plenty of gain available, but it was just a different texture than what I was after. Guess I'm a marshall guy. 😍

I bought this amp, but it sat in the corner because I had just gotten an Axe Fx 3 (Which IMO is the absolute best platform out there). One day I plugged into the DSL40CR and couldn’t believe how awesome this combo is!! Added the 6 button foot switch. It’s definitely got that classic Marshall tone and roar!

The DSL100HR is great also and there's finally a fix for the footswitch lag and effects loop not engaging sometimes. Just needs a firmware update and a new part.

Have the 20 watts....freekiin loud man....even at 10 watts. Nice tone ....me I prefer boost and delay in front thats it...just want the tone of that beast

What setting do you use for acdc tone ?

Crunch (red) setting on the classic gain channel. I like it with all knobs on the amp set around noon. I use the blues driver with volume and gain knobs both set to around 9 or 10 o' clock. Tone knob on blues driver at 12 ' clock. I find the crunch channel has amazing sound, but is a little bass heavy, and the blues driver tightens it up just a bit and gives it a little punch. The amp is doing 95% of the work. You can hear how subtle it is around 0:12 mark in video. Angus Young's wireless system added a little gain and compression. Very similar to using something like a blues driver. Also bridge pickup on les paul, volume 8 - tone 6.

I've just got my second one today (sent the first back due to excessive noise) and it does it on mine, it's mostly a bit like static but sometimes the pop can be really noticeable and jumpy!

Just the Boss Keeley Mod Blues Driver for a little drive in this demo. You can see me turning it off and on around the 20-30 second mark. Its not doing much! You don't really need any pedals for this amp! In the effects loop I have a Boss DD3 delay. The orange pedal is a Mooer Phaser I turn on around 5:48. The blue pedal is a Mooer Chorus, I turn it on, and the joyo tremolo on around 12:00 with the delay in the effects loop. As you can see its hard to get a bad sound out of this thing!
