It seems the Killburn 2 has a huge upper bass peak with a big roll off in the sub-bass frequencies. I'd say putting a bass port over passive radiators was a huge mistake here. Imo boomy bass doesn't sound bad if it digs deep but if upper bass becomes BOOMY it can sound quite irritating. I'm not saying upper bass is always bad in fact it can sound quite good if its a "tight upper bass" like the W-King D8's. So as far it goes for upper bass heavy speakers I would rather have the D8 over this which comes at a fraction of the cost.

Should it be possible to damage a soundcore motion boom by playing music at max volume and maxed eq settings?
@alanrossreviews3 жыл бұрын
In theory yes but from clipping rather than distortion of the drivers
@Nobbsify3 жыл бұрын
@@alanrossreviews I ask because I bought two of them and one started to present distortion from the right speaker at certain frequencies and now that I've gone and replaced that one, the same thing has happened to the other. I'm wondering if it's a manufacturing defect or whether I've done something wrong. There was only one time I can think of when I played them at max volume for an extended period of time and even then there were no immediate consequences. The first started sounding distorted a few days later and the second has only manifested the problem after about a month.

@Alan Ross Reviews Try the Bose Flex. For its size i have never heard a speaker with more impressive bass. It almost has as much bass as my soundcore motion plus and almost as deep but half the weight and size. my old gripe is a slight upper bass peak with some tracks and its crap above 75%. so much compression, intermodulation and distortion. seams like it was tuned for lower volumes. but thats fine with me. i never liston at max. the bass completly caught me off gaurd. i cant believe a speaker thats only 1.3 pounds can have such a quality full rich bass. It makes the bass of my stockwell 2 thats set to 10 sound weak. i used to have a A1 gen2 and the bose craps all over it at least below 75%. i have about 45 speakers in my colection now. I would say, the marshall isn't made for electronic music. I think it demonstrates it's muscles at accustic drums, highheads and accustic or hand made sound as a general rule. I mean rock music like Nirvana, Rammstein or classic rock like Led Zeppelin. This kind of music needs not really deep bass. The other side: The boom or the extreme can also handle such music with good quality. So in the end: The marshall is superfluous for real musiclovers and is only made for fanboys and girls.
