Great video. I have an original Silver Jubilee 2555, bought in 1987 for $700 (+/- $50, I just can't remember) - that was so much money to me at that time. I seriously had NO idea I'd be the owner of a vintage classic some day (today). I'm glad to see the love for this amp. I never get to play mine, so just bought a bugera speaker soak/attentuator that I hope will make it more approachable at least in my garage.

Awesome..most informative contents among vids for mini Jubilee. You see gain is enough without a booster to play 7080's Rock? Some one says it sounds a little bit thin and flubby when switched to 5watt although the mini sound excels every Marshalls far so ever, having its true sonic DNA of genuine Marshall....Thumbs up, cheers ..Stay in safe.
@AndyDoveGuitar4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Dukey, yeah I absolutely love this amp, it's a proper marshall, didn't feel the need to put a tube screamer in front of it at all. Yes on the normal channel with the gain knob on full and pulled out to give you a crunch its the most pleasing classic rock gain sound I've played. Dynamic and punchy. I would have been happy with that sound alone, its so fun to play on, but the lead channel I guess is what everyone buys this amp for. Its a fuller tone, great in my opinion for those 80s style riffs which I played. Does still sound good on 5 Watts, but the whole point of having a lower wattage amp is to be able to crank it up more then you could it's 100 watt brother! Can't recommend this amp highly enough on the 20 watt setting for that sort of sound, any other questions let me know 😊 🎸 🤘 🎶

You may not need a pedal for more gain, but a Tube Screamer or SD1 set up as a low gain boost really tightens up a Silver Jube, so you get the tight percussive hi-gain thing going on. Any pedal that has high pass filtering to dump low end with do it, e.g., my Iommi Boost.

Any tips on learning new tunes all the way through,I can never seem to concentrate on the same one for more than a couple of days,then I’m off learning something else,intro and first verse that’s me 🤘🖤
@AndyDoveGuitar4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much David, yeah it's amazing how much punch these lower output amps pack, can't go wrong with a tube amp, and good choice on the tube screamer, that's exactly how I'd use one too, just felt this amp sounded great just as it was entirely the gain from the amp. Would be cool to boost it for leads perhaps, but wanted to show it just amp tone for the sakes of this video. Yeah I've always had the midrange on full on every amp, is the sound I love, precision, can be unforgiving at times, but it's made me a better player having a cutting tone rather then getting lost in the mix. As for learning songs, I'm using songsterr on my phone these days (similar to guitar pro tablature software) but much easier having it on my phone, rather then P.C, just having it easy access in front of me when I'm in the mood to learn and being able to slow the tab down have been really useful and stops me getting distracted I guess. What's your current process when your learning? Minimising distractions and getting easy access to tabs is a good start, then it comes down to patience really. Remember not everything comes first time, I have to go over things many times till I'm happy enough to do a video on them! 🎸 🎶 🤘
@Jaxhaz31134 жыл бұрын
Andy Dove 🎸 do you think Tab is better than you tube ?,songster seems good as you have the rhythm to listen to
@AndyDoveGuitar4 жыл бұрын
@@Jaxhaz3113 yeah I'm finding songsterr really beneficial, good to hear the rhytmn like you say, and easy to load a tab up on my phone when the moment strikes! It really depends on the individual youtuber or tab writer, tabs in general you have to take with a pinch of salt as it were, often they are tabbed out in the wrong area of the neck or not quite right. So I use them as a starting point, and then the best thing I find is just listening to the original track and slowing it down to 75% or 50% which you can do on KZbin, then just the old fashioned art of listening and trying to find the notes. A lot of rewinding and patience, good for your ears tho! I guess it doesn't matter too much how you go about it, just have a crack at it really. Anything in particular you can't figure out message me and I'll have a go for you 🎸🎶🤘

Great sound Andy!! I got myself a the Silver Jubile Combo mini. Struggling a bit to get 80s classic rock sound. For some reason end up sounding too bright. I own two Mesas and an Orange. This is my first Marshall. Would you mind sharing your settings for min 6 and 8 on the video? Many tks
@AndyDoveGuitar4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Ivan, and good choice in amps there! Yes absolutely no problems at all, marshalls are usually very bright in general which is why they cut in a band context. The White les Paul custom I'm using is rather dark sounding so it pairs with this bright amp nicely. I pretty much keep the settings exactly the same throughout the whole video, it's the lead channel sounds you are after, but I'll give you all the settings. Most importantly the gain on the normal channel needs to be on full, if you bring it back even a little you loose all the bottom end and it sounds very tinny, so check that first. With the gain on full and rhythm clip pulled out it's a fantastic crunch for ACDC, thin Lizzy type sounds, but 6 and 8 mins are the lead channel. (anytime you see the red LED on that's the lead) Settings are Presence 5, bass on 6, middle on 10, treble on 6, volumes wherever you can handle them, let me know if that helps. There is a close up on the video nearer the start where you should be able to see those settings , I don't touch them from there. If that still doesn't sound as you like, message me back and I'll see what I do, good luck! 🤘 🎸 🎶

Heya, thanks ever so much, and great choice, they are fantastic amps, I'd say ideal for gigging with, much easier on the back and takes up less space on stage, love the vertical cabs too. Yes I'd say its easily loud enough to get over a loud rock drummer so you shouldn't have any problems. Marshalls are always loud, and it's fully Tube, so I know 20watts doesn't sound much, but it should be plenty. If you are playing really big gigs, it'd be miced up anyway, so I really wouldn't hesitate to get it! Hope that helps, let me know if you order one 🎸 🎶

@AndyDoveGuitar3 жыл бұрын
Heya, thanks ever so much for watching, yeah the DSL's are awesome, I guess the Jubilee is gonna sound a bit more old school, essentially the Jubilee is a modified JCM800, and the DSL was the next amp they built leading on from the 800 and 900, so you'll be in the same ballpark if you know what I mean, Marshall make great amps, still tho, the jubilee is my favourite that I've plugged into for that Rock sound! 😎🤘

@AndyDoveGuitar3 жыл бұрын
Thanks ever so much, oooh great question, the JVM deffinitley gives you more options, it's a hugely more versatile amp, they are great, but I just adore the lead channel on this amp. Really depends what sort of player you are, if you ride volume controls the Jubilee can clean up very well, but if you are after channel switching etc the JVM is gonna give you way more versatility for your money. They both rock, so whichever one speaks to you more/you can get a good deal on! Thanks for watching🤘🎸

@@chasingtone5748 absolutely, it's nails that classic rock and 80's rock sound. You can see why Slash used them a lot, to me they are the perfect fat rock sounding Marshall. Call me old fashioned, but I'm a big believer in less is more. The JVM's are incredible don't get me wrong, but much more modern amp with loads of options. I've always been a believer of less parts and components in an amp the better it sounds, to me I'd choose the fullness of the Jubilee, but again a lot of that is my old school music tastes. Plenty of great players use JVM's and you really can't go wrong with either, but yeah jubilee wins for me! 🎸🤘

Thanks man, I love Sayce, what a great player! And I've been tempted by one, but never tried one out sadly. I have a 100 watt plexi however with a master volume and that sounds ace, but very different to the Jubilee. I think the jubilee is capable of similar sounds, and can do more, but both would offer fantastic tones. I believe Phillip Mcknight does a shootout video between the two, I'm sure there's a few videos online, check em out! I'll hopefully be able to test out a mini plexi once lockdown is over fingers crossed, I'd love to get my hands on one to do a review and shoot out too, I'll look into it for you 🤞

Oooh that sounds like a fantastic set up! I've never tried a full size Jubilee sadly, but I can really vouch for the mini sounding amazing. Its the ultimate Marshall for me. I think it's a great idea Marshall recreating these legendary amps but at more practical outputs and sizes. You can definitely get more use out of them cranking then at 20 Watts then you can at 100 Watts. As always you need to get to a shop to test one out if you can, but I'd feel confident getting good tones out of either. You're playing American music with an American geetar through ferin amp-stuff. I have some switchable amps, and for some reason I don't like to saturate the main tubes at low volumes. I like the head-room & ability to chug, rattling the windows. How do you find the panel color vs. silk-screen color? I have an amp, a Peavey, with a similar dark on silvery metal and it annoys the heck out of me. It's not very visible, color-wise, & it needs to be at eye-level because the labels are below the knobs and of course they label things differently (they call gain pre-gain, because that's how intellectually pure they are in their sonic church). Nice people. Stupid control layout & labeling. This Silver Jubilee amp sounds good, but there just isn't enough knobs. It needs more knobs, just as a general matter. On the bright side, just entering the search term "marshall jubilee" into duckduckgo (I hate google with their spy-machines tracking everything we do for God knows what nefarious ends) and YOUR VIDEO POPS UP RIGHT AT THE TOP OF THE RESULTS PAGE. So GOOD FOR YOU! :-) You are THE MAN & define the very concept "Marshall Jubilee" in cyber-space! Good sounding amp. Needs more knobs.

Thanks so much Salvador, yeah I know exactly what you mean, the chrome control panel can be a nightmare to read, especially when you have stage lights on it! I have the same problem on my peavey classic 30 too, but I don't mind so much. Both these amps, once they are dialed in I almost never touch the EQ or controls at all so I'm not overly fussed. It's all about the sound for me and this is still my favourite Marshall amp to play through. Very simple no frills amp, I like the simplicity of it, plenty of amps with more controls and more sonic options if you need that, but if I wanna play rock and roll and crank out 80s rock riffs this is the amp for me!
