Definitely agree. Straight in, 20W, plus Mesa graphic eq, (doubles as an attenuator) Corona chorus, delay and/or reverb in the effects loop. Sounds epic. I also really like the Rhythm clip pulled out on both channels. 🤘

You're correct.. overdrive in front of this amp just muffles the great tone of this circuit. I use a Boss GE7 in front and it works fantastic with this amp for just a little more sustain. Excellent amp!

Great amp
@adamwatson69167 ай бұрын
My experience was the same when I had the combo . pedals had to have the bass way down and the treble cranked but then it would sound to thin and harsh. There was no sweet spot in between. The Amp seems to have a very unique circuit that that doesn't respond as well to adding pedals or making modifications. I let the amp go and kept the 2 by 12 cab. I had the combo and 2 by 12 matching cab. I much preferred using the combo ran through the cab with the combo speaker disconnected. I thought it sounded terrible with the Stock Greenback and the small combo cab made it worse. It was very boxy Nasal congested overly honky and muffled/blanketed on the lows . The full size 2 by 12 with the Marshall branded V30s cured most or those issues and sounded substantially better. It was less fizzy on the top end as well. Makes sense as the circuit was designed specifically to work the Marhsall vintage or original V30.

I play this amp straight in 99% of the time for the same reasons. I did a bunch of research on this and bought a Timmy pedal because I wanted to be able to punch in a third "screaming lead" channel on the fly so I never have to touch the master levels for my typical mid-gain use on the lead master. To me it's amazing and perfect since it's designed to augment the Marshall, not try to sound like a Marshall. I use Timmy in a lower gain setting anyway, but the sustain it adds, even with minimal gain, is awesome.

I got 2525c like 3 months ago for home practice, in rehersal room I got Bogner XTC Anniversary 6L6 with 4x12. I am happy to have two amps with diffrent tubes. When playing home quiet Marshall sounds thick and sweet. But when playing loud with Bogner 4x12 cabinet I was missing half the tone I got from Bogner. It was like mp3 and CD Quality. Some tones were simply not there and much less harmonics. But it cost 800 Euro and Bogner with cab is like 7000 Euro. Even thou it was still rocking. So in my opinion the amp is very good for the price.

So intrigued by this amp! Love the idea of not needing tone modifiers in front, but I've gotten used to a hot cake which i love for keeping all the timbre and color intact or even adding lots more. It's a very unusual type of drive pedal in that sense and I'm curious as to how that might work with it. But if not i still want to get one, just hope that I'll like the cleans also.

I have to say that I am still really digging this amp. I find myself plugging straight in and not using any effects on it . Sometimes might add a touch of reverb or delay , but that’s about it. It has the sound.

I’ve had the 100 watt Jube and have the Studio Jube in a combo. I like the Studio Jube more than the 100 watt version because I can actually play it at home. It’s not as thick and meaty, and there is a slight sag or latency with the Silver Jube Studio and Studio Plexi. I compensate with very slight compression. To be honest, I can’t believe how good this amp sounds. It’s got a great clean sound, two different types of overdriven sounds, and I play through it as much as a $3k hand wired amp I currently own. The 5 watt setting retains the sound of the amp well at conversation volumes. I’m not sure if your speakers have broken in. I don’t have any issues with pedals at all and I’m a pedal junky. The trick is to finesse the treble and presence knobs, probably back them off just a little.
@VinnyTheAxe2 ай бұрын
I agree. I needed to mess with the eq controls and the presence knobs They are very sensitive and a little movement goes along way for sure. I am loving the amp still. Which is a good thing. Thanks for stopping by with the info and supporting the channel. Much appreciated.

Joe B plays all original Silver Jubilees. He owns 10 of them. The reason they sound so good is A) it's Joe B. and B) they all have the old transformers in them. That old transformer is what makes the original Silver Jubilee exactly what it is. The tonal differences between the originals and everything after is like night and day. I've A/B'd them a dozen times with 6 different variants of later model Silver Jubilees vs the original. The difference in sound and tone is mind boggling. I'm by no means saying I don't like the newer stuff that came after the original, but if you ever get the chance to buy an original, jump on it. I'm a Marshall fan boy in general, and there's not much they've made in a valve amp that I don't truly enjoy playing through. Their solid state stuff, like the CODE is a straight up disaster IMO. I also prefer the UK made Celestion Creamback with the Silver Jubilee in all flavors. They're more throaty and with just a tiny lil smidge of chorus to round out the low end, they create a magical combination. PS, I do like me some Vintage 30's with my Fender Amps. Cheers Vinnie the hat

I've owned the same amp for about a year now and it indeed does not take all pedals that well. The clipping diodes in the circuit only stack well with low gain pedals. I really like the friedman golden pearl and mxr sugar drive with this amp. The sd-1, eqd plumes, purple plexi and clean drive all did not do it for me. The honey bee amps clean drive is amazing with fender style amps but just takes away from the jubilee's own clean voice. I've also had a hard time with a decent fuzz tone. Fuzz seems to fart out or sound broken sooner with this amp than a plexi.

These are the stock V30s in this cab. They work perfectly with this head. I would not change a thing. Normally if I was building a cab I would put Creambacks in there. I like those a lot. They have a greenback vibe but handle more power and don’t break up as easy. In a 4x12. I would probably mix v30s and creambacks. For blues and rock creambacks. For old school metal and rock the v30s work great in this cab. It’s always hit and miss with cabs and heads. Some combinations work some don’t. It’s a fun hobby for sure.

I got the Jubilee halfstack about 2 months ago and couldn't be happier. Already played a gig with it and it sounds awesome! The thing about the Jubilee and pedals in front of it: it utilizes LED clipping diodes in its circuit, so it doesn't jive as well with certain OD pedals in front of it as other amps do. Doesn't take away from the awesome tone as you say. I'm using a Friedman Buxom Boost in front of mine to push a bit more signal without cutting too much low end, sounds great! Every OD style pedal I tried in front makes it sound a bit too honky. Great amps 🤘🏻
