Your presentations are honest, relaxed, informative and focused. I appreciate that so much. I will visit Medellin in September with the serious notion of moving there. Your videos have saved me an untold amount of wasted time and money. Thanks.

love these videos brotha. I'm a colombian native living in nyc. just got back from Cali and I must agree with you. Cali is all about dancing drinking and food (lets not forget the women) but anyways, thanks for these awesome videos.

I'm gonna be honest and say that the video quality on these vlogs is amazing. Maybe I don't watch that many people carry fancy cameras around a foreign country, but these vids are so much more watchable than half the phone camera crap I see around this site. Props on editing too, that helps too! Questions from someone looking to visit Medellin in May-ish: How'd you budget for all this? Did you get a decent budget flight to get there? Lodging doesn't seem like an issue to me at least, but the flights can be killer for the wallet. Right now I'm seeing some flights to Medellin for $475 USD round trip. I think that's a good deal, but I want to know if I can find cheaper with a little google-fu. I don't plan on staying in a fancy resort or hotel, but a hostel is one option among many cheaper ones. Did you have any recommendations for lodging too? Otherwise the pricing in Colombia, from your video and stats on numbeo, is crazy. Cheap if you can restrain yourself from impulse spending on tourist stuff, which I think you seem to be able to do considering you're on a trip looking for a job. I do have one last question if you have the patience for it: Did you get a gringo tax for stuff? I know a lot of locals can tell a foreigner apart from a local, but I feel like they don't go as hard on people from Peru or Mexico compared to someone from the U.S or Canada. You don't look too stereotypical for an American either, which might help. But I am afraid that even though I look Mexican in most ways, just being a low-key tourist will get me price-pinched by the local vendors and shops.

i used credit card miles to basically get a free flight. however, flights arent too expensive to colombia, even from seattle, where i am from. i recommend hotels. i started staying in hotels once i got to armenia and i realized they are the same price as a hostel and you get your own room, which i love. however the hostels are great at first when you are interested in meeting a lot of travelers so maybe you want to check that out. i dont get too bad of a gringo tax anymore, because i am used to haggling a little bit. my colombian friend nicolas told me that you should negotiate for basically anything that isnt food. i dont always negotiate, but just practicing it from time to time keeps me more aware of the prices i should be paying. on the bright side, if you get a little gringo tax, its still really cheap compared to home haha.

On that wall, "Solo los recuerdos no se ahogan". I guess that is in memory of people that have drowned in the lake there? You are in better shape than you think, as you are at 7000 feet elevation..thinner air; tough climb. That beer sounds good.

Bro... initially I got confused on the bus ride to Guatape as to where to get off? I wasn't sure if the first stop was for the rock or the actual city. Eventually I sorted it out. La piedra is definitely the bomb.com :D
